I was wondering if anyone here has been to the J.R. Ritman library and has any comments on what its like. I've been wanting to make a trip to Amsterdam for a while and this is at the top of my list of places to go.
hm.. never even heard of it.. hehe.. just googled it and it looks interesting.. here's a link: http://www.ritmanlibrary.nl/
wow that place looks amazing. old books fascinate me. i heard on some tv show they said that western civilization lost almost 1000 years of knowledge when the library at alexandria burned down. what does hermetic philosophy mean? are these the musings of hermits?
This site has a pretty good overview of Hermeticism . I've felt like I wanted to live in the Netherlands for a while even though I've never even visited. After I found out about this library, since I consider myself a Hermetist, I think it's definately something I'm going to look further into. I would feel like a kid in a candy store walking into a place like that and they would probably have to kick me out the door to get me to leave. But living close enough that I could visit whenever I wanted to would be like a dream come true.
So it's all about a quest for balance, harmony, optimism, equilibrium, unity, true wisdom, and the divine then. I can think of 1 or 2 other Hip-Forum members that probably need to practice this before they post their stuff here. LOL Yes you know who you are.! LOL
