I've thought about maybe if the world stops spinning suddenly, then all of us and the atmosphere would continue to spin. Then we calculated how fast we'd be going based on how far one would travel at the equator in a 24 hour cycle, and if that logic is correct, basically everything would be suddenly moving so fast that we would be instantly flattened by the powerful wind of the moving atmosphere. Unless you were at one of the poles. Then you'd just spin around in violent circles.

 

actually the equator moves the fastest... the closer you get to the poles, well. eventually it doesn't spin that fast..
