Which band is better: The Who or Led Zeppelin?

if you stuck a gun to my head i would have to say led zeplin, mostly because i think stairway to heaven might very well be the greatest song ever writen

..that applies to Led Zep too I think. But I would take the rhythm-section of Moon/Entwhistle over Bonham/Jones any day of the week. But still; both bands were THE live acts back in those days, i think.

Being a huge Led Zeppelin fan I would have to say Led Zeppelin... but I like The Who as well... I guess the whole guitar-smashing thing gets to me... I don't really like it when musicians destry their instruments, the way The Who and Jimi Hendrix did. Page kept the same few guitars all throughout Zeppelin's career- and when their equipment broke, it would only be because they played on their stuff so hard for so long. Musically, though, that's not really important at all. Both bands are excellent.

I like Zeppelin best,but it's just a slight preference mixed in with fond memories....

 

led zepplin is far better. the who had a few good songs, but i LOVE led zepplin...i connect with them more

 

No doubt in my mind Led Zeppelin! I mean The Who are okay, but they just don't do anything for me, like Led Zeppelin does.

 

Well said man! I agree, Led Zeppelin is my vote. I love zeppelin and the music is just so intense. The who are alright, but i dont really feel it when i listen to the who.

 

It's hard to say. It's like comparing apples and oranges, they're two different bands.

 

Led Zeppelin is not just better than The Who! They are better than everybody!!!
Because of many reasons!!!

 

zeppelini has a deepper sound. better tunes, easily. plant was a better lead man then daltrey. entwistle might have been better than JPJ. Page was definately better than townsend. the big tossup is the battle between moon and bonzo. thats a tough call. btu i think the zepp is better

 

Zeppelin. More prolific, better lineup all around (John Paul Jones is grossly underrated---listen to Ramble On or The Lemon Song---as is Jimmy Page for that matter).

 

i personally enjoy both bands but Led just a little more...I just like more songs from them i guess

they are both awesome and helped shape music for later bands. i have to say led zeppelin. the who's rock operas were great, but i love zeppelin. they each were so great and were amazing at what they did. the who is up there with them, though.
