Alright, I'm fuckin sick of all this "Is Canada suseptable to terrorism" sense the London bombings. One of the things I took pride about in Canada is that we didn't overblow the whole security thing. OK, yes we are vulnerable, in a way. Yes, we are targets of Al-Qaeda. But, man, look how often these things happen. They are freak occurances, like bear attacks and train wrecks. Enough already. You can't help it if it's going to happen. # of people killed in car accidents in Canada/year = hundreds of thousands. # of people killed by terrorists/year = 0. Even if an attack hit, how many would die? a couple hundred maybe? what about the poor who die of cold and starvation? There are so much bigger problems to worry about than terrorists. Lets keep our country reasonable.
As much as I'm ready to jump on Bush for anything, I really think we're at fault. Our Federal Public Safety Minister Anne McLellan has been sounding all kinds of horns, criticizing the Canadian Public for being 'oblivious to the dangers'. I suppose that's her job. Why is there a job for that?
Just thought of something.... The radical militant Hindus! They might want our cows. They could form the BLA (Bolvine Liberation Army), hijack from cargo plains, fly over and hold Ranchers up at gun point. I think we should start to planning for the possiblilty of BLA invading. We need to close the boarders, do some serious racial profiling. PANIC in the fields!
they dont need to use "terrorists attacks" in canada to get us to do what they want us to. i'd be a lot more worried about the 2000 people a year who die because of smog in the greater toronto area than i would ever be about a "terrorist" attack in canada.
Yeah, there are numerous things that are more of a threat to Canada than terrorists. And, I'm not sure, but wouldn't the point of terrorism be to TERRORIZE? So they win. I urge everyone in Canada to look up the policy we have in dealing with these things. I'm not sure what it is here, but in the states there is a group that goes by the name of FEMA. FEMA, according to cloumnist William Rivers Pitt, was created to ensure the continuation of the US government after a nuclear strike. With a Presidential declaration of a national state of emergency, FEMA gets absolute power over all modes of transportation including personal vehicles of any kind, total control of highways, seaports, airports, aircraft, the national media, all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals, all food resources and farms, health, education and welfare functions, and can develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in US financial institutions. The powers granted to FEMA can also allegedly include forced civilian labour on government project and the appropriation of fresh water. <"Only Cowards cancel Elections", Truthout Perspective, July 14, 2004; www.truthout.org> That's a whole fucking lot of power for one group. All they need is an excuse....... This is why we must keep a head on things here at home. We can't allow our freedom to be compromised in a similar way.
I have recently (last August) returned to Canada after living in UK for 11 years and I have to say I feel sooooooo much safer here. We have far bigger issues to worry about then Terroist attacks thats for sure. I live in Alberta and I have to say I feel safe just the way it is we don't need no trumped up security bull shit that's for sure!!! Love & Sadness EnonEmouse
cows in sask? i think if they wanted cows they would go to alberta... heck even ontario but they might hit ontario just because it is becoming the next state and they may be confused.... i know i get confused. I am in ontario right now but anxious to back to sask... not for the cows my friend... the bison perhaps, maybe they dont know they all got wiped out, sigh, too bad about that eh? but i hear they are re-populating the billions lost, I think they are up to.... 50 now.
oh i just thought of somthing else. i read the other day they found the second biggest oil deposit in the world after the one in the middle east in northern alberta at Fort mcmurray (sp) So i am not worried about Al-quida I am more concerned bout Bush going Irak on OUR asses now that WE have the oil. fuckin Bush. LOL i just remebered my dream from last night i was leaving a concert and Bill Clinton was there and I ran up to him and said "SAVE US BILL" lol and hugged him and said "you will always be president in my eyes" does anyone care? dammit i dont even care anymore. stop talking
I dont know the specifics, but i think the Albertan oil is mixed with sand, therefore more expensive to extract, making the middle east still the prime target.
over in australia the government has been playing the terror card and wanting to introduce an id card (more money wasted). i've got another year as an apprentice here. if the government starts becoming tyrannical i'll see if its possible to escape to nz or canada, a cop out i know but people are a little simple minded here when it comes to the terrors of the govenment. as an aside i had a dream last night about another two bomb attacks on the buses in london and strangely something about michael jackson which i forget now. maybe "bubbles" has joined al quaida?
