WAY OT: Babybud, my God. You look like my kids, one of my girls came in here and said it, too. She said you look like a mix of my 17 yr old Moon and me.

This is the best pic I have of Moon at the moment, maybe you can't see the resemblance, but you guys look so much alike.

It's mostly hormones, at the bottom of the scale some women may be as normal as any other week of the month but on the extreme end of the scale a few have literally murdered their spouses. It's not a laughing matter for these women and yes I agree that murder is not the way (well... sometimes you men...) but it is just as valid a 'disease' as post-natal depression. Just taken the piss out of more... did any of that make sense?!

    What Causes PMT?

The main cause of PMT is an alteration in the balance of female hormones during the menstrual cycle, which creates an accumulation of salt and water in the system, and a reduction in progesterone, the hormone that prepares the uterus to receive a fertilised egg. Hormone imbalance can also be caused by a lack of essential fatty acids, such as Linoleic Acid in the diet. Lack of Vitamin B6 also causes irregularity in the menstrual cycle.

    How Serious is PMT?

Women suffering from PMT may not experience all the symptoms, and can suffer them in varying degrees of severity. Some women experience psychological symptoms of PMT to such an extent that they may act like a completely different person, experiencing violent mood swings, and even demonstrating physical violence towards loved ones. Judgment is often affected in PMT sufferers, and they may become accident prone at this time.

I don't get bitchy since I was put on the pill, but I just get what I call irritable. When you're bleeding for 7 days, you just feel gross. That grossness makes me really impatient and so if anyone bitches at me, I snap right back.

wow...where to begin...what a question "why are woman so bitchy during their periods" maybe because of horomones, pain, irritability, the headaches, the fatigue, the BLEEDING!, constant worry of leaks if you leave the house. changing of tampons or pads. trust us, guys. we're not trying to take it out on you. we've just got a whole lot on our minds that when we get angry were ganna get a little more angry than usual... just be a little more thoughtful to girls during their periods. dont shy away from them because you are grossed out by it or think they're ganna blow up at you. a lot of girls arent even affected by it....just during that week of the month... dont piss us off.

Everyone has the right to be in a bad mood sometimes. As long as they aren't attacking someone or physically hurting an other, it's just a bad mood. I hate the "Smile, honey." Bullshit we are often handed. Many times womyn are expected to "be happy" all the time. If they aren't they are considered "a bitch" or "depressed." When really, they are just having a bad day.

Has anyone ever thought about this.

Maybe it's not the women that get bitchie while they are in mensus. Perhaps it's the male that gets POd, bc he knows he will not be getting sex for 3 to 7 days.. Maybe it's the he and not the she that gets bent.

Has anyone considerd that women have been called down bc of their bodily functions by men .. forever.. reguardless if they are bitchie or not.
In some societies, the women were sent away in shame while having their cycle, shunned like we had a horrible disease.

Most men will slowly back away if they find out a women is having her peroid, with the deer in the headlights look. They are so mentally siked out about it they cringe at the thought of it.

If you ever want to clear a room full of men, just mention, Virgina, Uterus, or a women's Peroid and watch them scatter like you just pulled out a sawed off shotgun.

While I am on a roll, what about when you ask them to pick up some pads or tampons at the store on their way home and most men will freek. I've known some that flat out refuse.
It's like the checker at the store will think it's for them.. and why all the embarassment in the first place.

I'm not male bashing, I'm being honest. I'm wondering why the stigma, that when a women is on her peroid that she is an outcast till it's over, and why do men act so different towards us what we are having our cycle. What has society done to us. When did this start and how do we stop it.

Maybe you are (at least partially) right. I think I have never been bitchy, but I need understanding of what is going on with me, from people around me. I have always only had men around me (the close ones only, of course) that were very understanding, and very caring. My boyfriend even walked a 2 km way, to get me painpills!!!! He makes tee for me, and puts his hands on my tummy. He is such a great guy. No need to be bitchy ;-).

Same with father, I barely told him but if, he was a cute carer.

If you had a constant flow of blood streaming out of your hoo-hoo, you would be in a bad mood as well. Actually, it is caused by the hormonal shift.

Personally, out of anything else, I find that my biggest issue is more of an appetite around that time.

yeah, but still, i feel the hormonal imbalance just as badly as anyone, and aside from taking my aggression out on people online, i work really hard not to take it out on other people. there ARE women who subconsciously believe that they have every right to say incredibly mean things to people when they're pms-ing or bleeding, i'm related to many of them. they save up all their frustration and anger for that time of the month and let it rip all at once. i really despise that behavior. no amount of pain gives you the right to rip someone's throat out just because they left the stupid seat up.

    first of all---
how would you feel if someone repeatedly kicked you in the balls for 5-7 days straight? I don't think you'd be on cloud nine either.

    secondly,
you must understand that either A.) you're not helping matters or B.) she doesn't mean to take it out on you, and you're taking it personally.

If a girl starts ranting about hating the world, it doesn't mean she hates you. My boyfriend always assumes that once I start talking about how I hate work, etc... that I'm not happy with him...how the fuck are the two connected?!

and let me add that I never say truly mean or cruel things when I'm PMSing. yes I am crabby--- but are women not allowed to have crabby days? Because I know plenty of men that are crabby more often than I am.

    AMEN.

I know for a fact when I'm being crabby and when I'm not. My boyfriend pretty much knows my schedule for my times of the month and it's almost as if he assumes "well shes crabby...or shes GOING to be crabby" and it's really irritating.

Sometimes I can be in the best of moods during my period, and yet he will make comments like "gah, why are you so bitchy?" and I'll just sit there confused like..."wait...what did I do that was so bitchy? I said I didn't feel up to going to a movie...was that it?!"

Men take things so incredibily personally when women have their periods. They automatically assume that every word that comes out of our mouths is a personal attack against them, or that it was said in a "bitchy tone" what it wasn't.

I hate how if I have a box of tampons in my car and when of my 19-21 year old guy friends see it...they gross out. first of all, it's not like they are used --nothing to be grossed out by. Second of all, if you're a straight man who wants to be with WOMEN I suggest you get used to the fact that we get periods, because nothing is going to change that !
