what sort of high you after outlaw? an uppy satvia type or couch lock indica? how tall was your grow space? satvias usually grow taller, and they take longer to flower

nortern lights info from the doc

An absolute must for the indoor grower! For many years the Northern Lights® dominated the various Harvest Festivals. Through selective breeding we have succeeded in producing one of the most powerful plants in the world. On top of that, we have developed a pure Indica strain highly adapted for indoor growing: compact, powerful with a good yield and exceptional resin production. A most lucrative plant for the indoor grower.

    Flowering: 45-50 days.
    Height: 100-125 cm.
    Yield: up to 125 gr.

i have the space to grow 3 plants, so i was thinking 3 different strains. 1 sativa, 1 indica/sativa, 1 indica.

i was thinking of grapefruit, northern lights, and a skunk.

    open to any suggestions

The problem with growing different strains at the same time:
they grow at different rates. Some will be taller--sometimes much taller--than others so it's difficult to maintain proper bulb-to-plant spacing.
And plants also take different amt's of time to flower--some as short as 6 weeks, some as long as 12.
If I were you I'd stick to 1 strain at a time, at least for now.

NL5 is a great first timer strain as Ekul stated, and most important is to do as Ranger suggested and stick with one strain till ya get a grasp on how marijuana grows. Also different strains respond better to different fert regimes then others and best to get some knowlege of reading a single strains needs before multiples.

is it worth buying feminised seeds for a first grow?

you could do outlaw, i've got some female seeds i'm gonna try out - probably start them this week - 5 * cinderella c99 :D  saves having to worry about males, plus then your plants can have maximum space from the start :)

you can grow different strains, i've done it this time, but i've got different plants sittings on top of boxes and things to get them the same height to the light!

I would not recommend feminized seeds as not worth the extra $ till ya get some hands on reading experience of a plants needs.

Identifying nutrient deficiencies as well as over ferting symptoms and how to mend.Know what your waters ph is before and after adding ferts and how to avoid overwatering and times to water.Use organic ferts and quality soil.Indoors you play god and a plants health is counting on you to avoid rather then fix potential probs.know how to determine sex and proper harvest time as well as how to properly cure. All this info is available at this site if ya take the time to dwelve into. The list goes on but attention to detail will make you a happy camper after cure.Good luck

i know lots about most of the topics you listed. but just gotta read up on deficiencies and how to mend.

is 'mending' a general term when you fix your plants problem - whatever it is, or is it linked to just one problem?

Buy good seed first then,And buy feminised after you have 6 months to a year experience in your grow setup. Save that x-tra cash for the setup-fem are expensive.

haha i worked out how much it costs to run a 250Watt HPS light for 12 hrs a day, for 1 year. approx £500. yeah, i'll get normal seeds and save up to pay my parents for the electricity:rolleyes: .

you can find female seeds that arn't that expensive, i got 5 c99's for £20 i think

i just checked the doc and he does female northern lights, 10 for £29.99 or 4 for £13.99 - have a look at http://www.drchronic.com/products.asp?recnumber=693

at that price they are cheaper than some non-female northern lights! sensi seeds northern lights are nearly £70! or you can pick up 10 nirvana northern lights for a tenner ...

i got some free skins with my order from the doc as well :)

i can see where tiedye and meangreen are coming from though. i've always kinda been a bit wary of female seeds, cos its not like nature intended them to be, they've been messed with somehow - but i couldn't find any other c99 except the female ones, and this way they get maximum space from the start. i'll post up to let you know how they go when i start them ...

my first grow was bagseed ( but i knew the grower and that the seeds would be good ), second was the ice from somewhere online and jack herer from another grower, this current grow the ice and jack again with the pukka skunk bagseed, 4th grow will be the female c99 seeds. 5th grow i might treat myself to come sensi jack herer - but there nearly £90! the jacks i have currently have a lot of variation between them, maybe the sensi jack will be more stable ...

check this outlaw - it'll help you work the electric costs, http://www.ukcultivator.biz/elec.html

i wonder how much i spend on electric over a year!? since i started growing though i've been really good remembering to turn things off, lights tv etc and i haven't really noticed any increase in the bills :) i bet it jumps soon though when i have both rooms going at once ... and the electric companys are upping the price again soon

dunno mate, i live in south london not southend! cash in the post would probably be easiest if they take it, as i guess you havent got a debit/credit card at your age - unless your parents are up for paying on there card?

i've got solo and maestro on my natwest card. but i've heard that plastic can be traced back. but then again the police wouldn't waste time on a 16 year old growing 3 plants for personal use, or would they:rolleyes:
