These pickets are the longest running weekly actions in support of Palestine. Recently pro-Palestinian demonstrators have been confronted by a counter-demonstration by Zionist extremists and British fascists who have had the support and collusion of the British police, who have recently made llegal arrests. However, despite these pressures the demonstrations are growing and bring in a mix of different peopel from religious and racial backgrounds. Atrocities by Israel are accelerating and the Zionist state is gearing up for the final expulsion of the Palestinian people from their homeland. Come and show your support for the Palestinian people! No to Zionist Terror! [/size]
Post Editted: It would defeat the point of a protest if you allowed conflicting opinions to be stated - yes?
I am not interested in discussing this topic with a flamer. Go somewhere else if you wish to start an argument on an issue you obviously know nothing about. Your tone in this post is rude, ill informed, condescending and obviously posted to piss people off / flame. Do not bother to come back here in future. This forum is to inform people of Parties and Protests. If you wish to discuss an issue please use the main UK forum. Goodbye. p.s. Any future posts by you on this board will be removed.
conflicting opinions are great... I welcome respectful discussion But having a childish go at someone, then deleting what you just said.... not good mate! Try again?
I stay out of the whole Palestine/Israel conflicts because you don't know it till you experience it you know? I have a lot of Jewish family and I know many people who live in Israel who are really close to me so I never get into this shit. They didn't choose to go through all this shit, and now they're stuck with half the world hating them. and basically, Marks and Spencers make the best underwear so I will not be boycotting it, call me selfish, but if i'm gonna be selfish about anything its my private bits, and they need to be comfily dressed so's they dont get irritated or hurt or anything.
Mia we don't hate the Jewish People in Israel. We are against the Oppressive regime in Israel. There is a difference. I also have nothing against your private bits and wish them many comfy times in the future... whether it be in M&S knickers or not Love Learning and Freedom Clairexxx p.s. MUD
Did you know...? - Did you know Non Jewish Israelis cannot buy or lease land in Palestine? - Did you know that cars owned by Palestinians are colour coded to distinguish Jews from Non-Jews? - Did you know Palestinians are not allowed to move from one city, say gaza to Bethlehem, without first getting a visa from the Israelis? - Did you know Palestinian youth, both Christians and Muslims are denied access to their holy sites routinely? - Did you know the US awards $5 billion in aid to Israel each year? - Did you know that yearly US aid to Israel exeeds the aid the US grants to the whole of the African continent? - Did you know that Israel is the only country in the Middle East that has nuclear weapons? - Did you know that Israel blew up an American diplomatic facility in Egypt and attacked a US ship, the USS liberty, in international waters, killing 33 and wounding 177 American soldiers? - Did you know that Israel stands in defiance of over 80 UN Security council resolutions? - Did you know that it was not until 1988 that Israelis were barred from running "Jews only" job ads? - Did you know that despite a ban on torture by Israelis High Court of Justice, torture has continued by Shin Bet interrogators on Palestinian prisoners? - Did you know that Palestinian refugees make up the largest portion of the refugee population of the world? www.aqsa.org.uk makes you think?
makes me think that most muslim and arab countrys block vote resolutions against isreal makes me think about why the left make a big thing about isreal and not about Iran where you have a theocracy ,400,000 people killed since the 1980s and a goverment that pulls people eyes out and stones people I have the film or sudan where you have real genocide happening 4,000 people went missing last nite thats nearly half of the claimed dead in the recent Iraq war the only reason I can see is latent racism as the left need to have the bad guys to be white or western otherwise it doesnt fit in with their agenda.
Firstly, I doubt Marks and Spencer have a big corporate presence in Iran. Secondly, Israel is a democracy with a large degree of Western support both financial and political. Thirdly, being opposed to the abuses committed by Israel does not mean you can't also be opposed to the abuses committed in Iran: this demonstration, however, was on Israeli oppression of Palestine. As said above, this is not the place for a discussion on the issue - but frankly to accuse someone of "latent racism" because they mention a demonstration against one oppressive regime but not ALL oppressive regimes is ignorant trolling. Again. Well done Jonny!
It amazes me the lack of understanding some people have on this issue I am against all oppressive / facsist regimes. The Palestine issue is one of many we face today. I do not agree with terrorism. I do not agree with a government oppressing its people. I do not agree with Countries stealing others land and taking away peoples rights. I do not agree with racism or prejudice against a religious group. To suggest I maybe racist is quite ridiculous for many reasons. These reasons should be glaringly obvious so I will not go into them. But I know you didn't really mean I was racsist Jonny Here are some links for anyone who is genuinely interested in the issues surrounding this (n.b. I do not endorse this... make your own mind up from it): Background Info in Q and A Format
