The month of August has presented me with quite the uh dilemma. I've been accepted to a university in New York City, but I'm not sure if my family will be able to afford it.. I missed the dorm application deadline, so I'll have to look into staying with friends, renting rooms at the Y, etc.. very gritty existence. But I think it might be good for me, although it will be very difficult.. Or I can go to community college at home.. save up, have a few months of relative relaxation, save some money, take some time to prepare, have fun and travel, buy books and music.. THEN make my getaway for the big city..
hmm...i would personally save up my money by first going to a community college and then transferring. you don't just want to leave home with the worries of needing money for a place to stay for the entire school year.
some people like being able to get jobs the easy way....... or learning in a structured environment....
the 'sensible' thing would be the community college option, but i myself would go for the first, and livin on wahtcha got. theres surely plenty of (althouhg not well paid) work to be done in NY.
If you cannot afford, then do not go... as simple as that. I skipped a couple of amazing universities after I was accepted but could not afford them.
go to the community college, stay focused on getting everything together, and then when youre ready go to nyc.
