My mom is so into getting pedicures... and all I can think is "WHY?"

I like to run around barefoot all the time, and I love my tough soles... I can walk on just about anything and not feel any sort of pain [gravel..whatever]

To me, feet are made for walking.. not to look pretty, or to be thought of as gross EITHER...

it just never made sense to me why some people are either A.)grossed out by feet as a whole or B.) into making them look *pretty*

It's like butts, everyone has them... what's the big deal?!

Ahh, but everyone has faces too, and we all know how most women can't leave the house without putting SOMETHING on, whether its lipstick, eye shadow, etc. But try and tell a woman not to put on makeup and that "it's no big deal..." LOL

It's not necessarily a "beauty" thing...as for me when I go to get one, it's because there's no better feeling of relaxation to me. The massage part of a pedicure is out of this world, as is the feeling of being pampered. There's more than just beauty to a pedicure...

Though of course with women, they are obviously aware that while feet are made for walking...many men, whether they have a foot fetish or not, find something quite attractive about a pretty pair of feet. But inherently, whether they recognize the attention that it gets from men (or women) women seem to like to feel beautiful, and for many having prettily pedicured feet is one way they make that statement.

    i suppose.
I guess I can't quite relate... I'm not too much into wearing makeup or anything to the effect anywho. I get upset if I have a zit or if I put on a bit of weight but that's as far as it goes... I'm not into fashion for the most part, I don't really wear makeup, and I don't spend hours on my hair or anything else for that matter... Maybe I'm just for the most part content with how I naturally look

And I suppose I too am making a bit of a statement with my calloused feet rather than the opposite... I like to feel/touch nature's gifts ...it's soothing to me... and I suppose some people would take a look at my feet and see that about me... *laughs* but then you'll also get those sort of people who will take a look at my feet and think "she's dirty..." lol

As a barefooting girl, I have to tell you that a pedicure would feel absolutely wonderful to you. Maybe not on a fashion/beauty level, but definitely on a "wow, this sensation is sooo wonderful" type of way.

I'm not into fashion. I don't see the point. I don't wear makeup regularly (only on special occasions). And I don't shave. HOWEVER, the sensations of a pedicure are so wonderfully strong, especially for a barefooter. They won't remove your calluses. They can't. They buff out the snags on your feet, you know, the parts that snag on fabrics because they are dry and cracking? They remove those, but other than that, it feels marvelous. :D You should try it. You don't even have to get your toenails painted.

Hmm... the sound of it sounds like yes, it would feel nice but for some reason I'm paranoid about losing my callouses... I want to still be able to walk on any texture I wish without it hurting.

I wouldnt get them painted, it irritates me... I dont have the time or energy to maintain that, and when it starts cracking it looks retarded.

The bit I don't get is it's the people who ruin their feet by forcing them into silly shoes who make all the fuss about pedicures. If they really cared about their feet they wouldn't by 1000 pairs of stupid shoes in the first place.

trust me...when I go for pedicures, they can't take off my callouses...and I normally walk out barefooted and there's hardly a difference when walking.

And I totally agree about painting toenails. I do it every once in a great while...

Pah, beauty isn't skin deep... The only real reason I wear make-up is to pass easier (plus, it's fun to alter my appearance :D). As for my feet... they're feet, how cares how they look? I don't care about my appearance; but, many others do. If I could go out without altering my body in any way whatsoever and still be recognized as a woman; vanity would have no place in my life.

I have a weakness for pedicures, they feel fantastic! What's even better is having a lovely lady paying attention to my feet, sitting back in a chair that massages the different areas of your back. Positively paradise!!!!

    Different strokes for different folks!

Yay, naturally tough feet that can walk on anything is SO much healthier and physically attractive to me than any silly pedicure.

I've also noticed that barefooters usually have better toned feet and healthier skin than shoe wearers. Keep going barefoot and forget the pedicures. Rough soles and gravel-sanded toenails are the best.

    meh, I don't know...
Still I don't get it for the MOST part. I could go for the massage aspect of it--that would feel wonderful

And to whomever said the feet of a barefooter seem to be more toned, I think youre right on--- I went through a stage where I wore shoes everyday for whatever reason [You have to admit there are some pretty cool looking shoes out there...and if only my feet were small enough to fit into the ones that light up! Gah!] anyway I noticed a big change in the appearance of my feet since I went barefoot; to me overall they look sexier :) I love my feet, they are probably my favorite part of my appearance.

Yeah, that's right. True barefooters never need pedicures because their tough, tan, strong, naturally well-toned feet are always looking as sexy as can be. Nature is the best masseuse.

Pedicures make feet look like overly groomed poodles or something.

I think a barefooter girl's feet look very sexy! Tough, rough soles are very sensual and attractive in a pretty girl.

It should be more than enough having the toenails well trimmed, don't you think?

    Regards

    DG

PS: Apples...how tough your soles are???

I take good care of my feet, but I've never had a pedicure professionally done. I just buff off the rough spots and use some cooling lotion occassionally...then in the shower I use an apricot scrub,it's really nice. I do keep my toenails painted usually...just because I like it and it makes my toes happy :)
