I got these jeans at Value Village and they looked brand new....I discovered why, they must have been labelled wrong size-wise at the factory, because I couldn't get them over my hips....:D

So I put in corduroy sidepanels, added a new waistband with belt loops, and appliqued a corduroy daisy in orange and white......I love them now..:D

I wish I had even the tiniest bit of talent when it comes to sewing.

I have all these great ideas floating around in my noggin but I can't do anything with them.

    haha.

    GREAT job by the way!!

Oh, I LOVE those!!! How did you replace the waistband though? Did you replace zipper and all?? Do tell, do tell :)

    Thanks guys!

colorfulhippie: When I took the jeans apart, I took the waist band and belt loops off using tiny scissors and a seam ripper to cut the threads. The zipper was left intact.
Then I opened up the side seams. This is a bit time consuming, but worth it not to cut any fabric.

Also a little trick I used to get them to hang properly was to trim the hips to remove the curve of the seam. I made it more straight, then added an a-line panel.

To do the waistband, I measured how wide, doubled that and added seam allowance, then sewed one side to the waist of the finished jeans, I left some length to hang over the edges. Then I folded it to the outside, and sewed the edges front opening, and turned it to the right side. Then I turned under the seam allowance on the inside, and topstitched it closed. I made a button hole and added a new button, I used a white one to go with the daisy.

The belt loops are just lenghts cut from a tube I sewed. I put them where the old ones had been.

The flower made these! They turned out perfect. Well worth the extra time to do it right.
