i like how you put it thats pretty much what i was thinking ----just be who you want to be dont try to be like other people be an individual you will much more satisfied with yourself theres really no way you should act or a way to look that makes you a hippie you are whatever you believe you are...for example my brother likes to say hes batman so i go with it things like that in the long run define you and make you differant and happy--dont follow what other people do follow what you feel is right and you believe in ...and NEVER give up on it
dude austin powers are u fregin serious dork look at janis joplin or paul mcartney at least paul i still alive
sorry dude but the austin powers character was modeled after the 60's english psychedelic mod scene... yes, i know about being myself so my friends and i individualize things we learn from the austin powers movies
Very perceptive! 'Living Street Theatre' is one way to describe the Hippie Experience in the '60s. Our 'Experience' definitely had that quality or that feel to it, and we knew it. We explored our roles with the excitement of young actors playing un-rehersed roles in an experimental existential-theatre. However, it must be said that few artists within the 'arts-industry' ever attained the level of spontaneity necessary to equal the Hippie Experience as lived and felt on the street.
The psychedelic-mod-scene of 'swinging' london in the '60s definitely had the psychedelic experimental spirit of the Hippy Experience. However, its authenticity was constantly challenged by its slavish association with high-fashion. In other words, it lacked the down-to-earth organic-granola spirit of the less worldly Hippie Soul.
Are you suggesting you have to learn to be yourself. I pity you and your ignorance. The hippy movement was people being them selves and doing what they believed in. If you have to "learn" to be a "hippie" then you're fooling yourself into believing that you're something that you are not.
I'm hoping some of our Brits could xplain Mod Culture to the Yanks. It must go beyond Quadrophenia Could Powers be a Mod, He seems so neat, so overdone ?
how could one in good faith of hippiedom question the mod fashion scene of the brits when jimi, in his journeys there, took up the look its actually impossible to not be a hippie but we can forget how to be a hippie
by imitating Austin Powers? Way to go.. then you've REALLY lost touch with yourself ànd reality.. haha
what do you think the language is that we are communicating with is? an imitation of accepted gutteral sounds that convey meaning. if we don't imitate, we die
nooo.. through imitation kids learn how to use their voice, by pronouncing sounds. The actual languages have to be learned (otherwise, why would they teach English in school?) and human communication is nothing else but that, a way of communicating. You are talking about something totally different.. you are delibaretly seeking a rolemodel that you can copy in detail, because apperantly you are not secure enough as an individual to seek out your own path. Don't get me wrong, everyone is inspired by others.. in others we see things we like and don't like, things that reminds us of ourselves and that we want to better or adopt.. but that's something totally different of saying "if you forget who you are, you have to then remember who you are".. you never truly loose yourself and if you do.. you will never ever find your true identity by adopting a stereotype.
I didn't know you were going to go more in-depth about imitating. Apparently, we were both talking about 2 different things
