See, i had never come into this forum because i wasnt sure what Rainbow family was, and i know, thats a terrible reason not to wander in. But im still confused about what exactly it is. Does it just have to do with people who wander around the country seeing festivals and gatherings....thats the jist i got from one thread. Could someone please explain it to me a lot better? It sounds like a very interesting group of people.
or maybe im completely wrong in what i think and maybe they arent interesting....but i still would appreciate some info about them
duhh theres a sticky at the top of this forum on account we got tired of repeating ourselves to folks like you who dont have enough sence to comprehend "please read before posting".. There ya got yer reply..
sorry about bein impatient....i had tried reading the sticky but all i found as an explanaton was a bunch of links....i followed one and all i found out was that rainbow people gather in one place each year and thats about it, is that really all?
The best explaination is to check out www.welcomehome.org Rainbow means a lot of things to a lot of people, which is why you aren't getting a lot of response. Basics: peace loving folks who view themselves as part of a world Family while maintaining their individuality, many of whom get together in National Forests on the 4th of July to pray for peace. Rainbow is not a US only thing, there are Rainbow Gatherings held around the world. Gatherings are not only to pray for peace but also to network with like minded folk. Rainbow is a whole lot of things little bro.
Drew, we can't give you a better definition than we've already given hundreds of other people. So just go browse through the past threads. Or read our best attempt at condensing something in the sticky thread. But it's hard to explain. It's also hard to agree on. So it's a lot more than 10,000's of people hanging out in the woods, but we can't tell you exactly what more except by babble which is not going to teach you us and will bore us typing. If you really want to know, go. Although most of us are confused as to exactly what Rainbow is even after our first gathering. I've been to 5, and I'm still a bit confused.
I've been to a lot of gatherings and i dont think i could ease your confusion in any way that would be satisfying to you. Let go of your need to understand and just go to a gathering. there are hundreds of thousands of people around the world who call themselves rainbow and only a handful of us who post online all that often. So it's way too far removed from the paradigm you find around here. If you dont like it you can leave as soon as you get there...
thanks anyways...where do these things get held? from what i read it changes up quite a bit doesnt it?
Local family, that is anyone interested who might be within shouting distance of the call to council, gather and council over where to have the gathering. A lot of cases that requires looking for a place. It is always in national forest, must have a large meadowspace for main circle, good access to clean drinking water, and parking, along with a few other considerations. Scouts will drive out to spots in the national forest, usually found intuitively, take a look around, then report back to the next council. A site is chosen by consensus, which means everyone must agree. Ideally, there should be about 10 people at council who can make a commitment to go to the gathering and help focalize. It doesn't mean they are in charge,it just means that they know how to dig shitters, build kitchens, filter water and keep things mellow. Without them you get a lot of kids who dont know how to live in the woods, and that has been known to happen.
A lot of times family chooses never to gather in the same place twice. generally the same site isnt gathered on again until a few years have passed. In B.C. they held gatherings a few years running at Duncan Lake at people drowned two years in a row.So mother earth agrees with that rule.
have one in yer back yard brother,, its all about a mindset,, not so much a setting,, but it should always be as far removed from COUGH,,"civilization" as possible... hell theres potlucks and drum circles in most every large city in the US,, why should you an yer brothers an sisters in yer lil peice of humanity be any diffrent?? think outta the box of babylon an youll understand...
