I think they should be able to be free unless the dog catchers need to capture them to help them. Now a days I hate dog catchers b/c you know what they do? They bring the animals to their place and if no one takes them they have to put them down. Tha't s so fuckin stupid to me. If I were their man really I'd beat up those guys. Why do they need to put them down. Someone will eventually come and take them home. Life's gay!!! :$
The Humane Society where I volunteered for a while is making the transition to a no-kill shelter. Of course, at the same time they've limited the business they do to strictly the city of Tacoma, unless people are bringing animals in themselves. But it's a start! Dog catchers may not be doing the best thing, but it's better than having so many feral animals on the street, breeding and overpopulating the place. What I'd like to see happen are more programs where feral animals are caught, neutered/spayed, and let go. ~Nova
If there were no dog catchers then stray dogs would be plaguing (sp?) the streets everywhere. I'm not for putting the animals down, and Im all for no kill shelters, but sometimes it has to be done, sad but true. And as for Tokemeup420, Im glad that guy got banned, hes such a douche!
im for the shelters, whether theyre kill or no kill. cant have stray animals running the streets. i've seen the consequences of that in india, its hell. dogs and cats all over the place.
Stray animals everywhere would be a great idea... Dogs are too domesticated to scavenge for food, where do you suppose they would get meat from? Other strays, people's pets, small children? They'd also be getting hit by cars right and left. What about rabies? Other diseases? You are so worried about thse cats and dogs, what about the balance of the ecosystem that you want to just let them loose in.....?
There's this thing I heard about where volunteers caught feral cats, sterilized them, and released them back to where they came from. If they did that with more stray animals the animals could be free, but not overpopulate.
