what does this song even mean? its always in my head and i love it haha what exactluy does 'one toke over the line' mean?
I just assumed it meant being high. But there is that line about "learning about the pain", so it could be a negative aspect of herb, such as anxiety. Nice sing-a-long song anyway, whatever it means!
Yeah, I thought it just ment something like one toke to much or something. Don't know about the "learning about the pain" line, though... One toke over the liiiine, sweet jeeesus!
I think 'one toke over the line' means getting that much closer to heaven. You're just 'one toke' from that line, and that line being heaven. And so smokin' bud is that much closer to heaven, (which in their eyes was okay to do). 'Waitin for that train that goes home' is like the ride home, the ride to 'heaven'. I think if you read all the lyrics you'll see its all about trippin and knowin there's something there to go home to, something there besides that fucked up world they were living in. You gott remember, that song came out just after the 60's,...1971.
