Got a record player? Records are incredible! I picked up mine for $5.00 at a garage sale last year... an old Grundig.. Plays great! Records are really cheap when you hit up the used record shops. And you'll always manage to find a give-away record player at garage sales.
I do have a record player! I take a walk down to the record store, but here in downtown T.O. everything "vintage" seems to cost more than the new things.
Hmmm... That's a shame. Well, keep your eyes out for it then. I found my copy in Quebec City for $5.00.
I like vinyl too. Thrift shops are a good place to get old albums and book sales at libraries. I've got boxes of albums from the 60s and 70s. There's stuff on vinyl that you will never find on CD. The original mixes on the vinyl sometimes sound better than the remastered version on CD. Universities sometimes have surplus sales. You'll find all sorts of stuff by local groups that never made the big time but that is nice work. .
Back around 1980 there was a light-hearted reality show called Real People. They had a guy on there who could identify albums by the groove pattern on the vinyl. They gave him a few dozen records with the centers covered over with paper. He identified every album correctly. .
Magical Mystery Girl, I can see the Russian and Polish influence but I can also detect a bit of the old anglo-saxon as well. What you need is some african influence as well to add some pigmentation -- then you'd be just right. h
That's great news about the band! I really do look forward to a release Please let us know if Donovan contacts you, that would be very cool. And all this talk about vinyl reminds me that I really need to find a receiver and some speakers for my player. I miss listening to my records. Btw, your eyes are captivating.
