What's your favourit holiday and why?

My fiance's mom is wayyyy too OBSESSED with Christmas, she goes crazy every year with decorating the house, buying all these stupid, pointless presents for everyone even if she's fucking broke, and what's hilarious is that she's Jewish all the way. Interesting isn't it?

 

Christmas makes me want to kill myself, I hate it...worst time of year, sickest commercial holiday with people panicking to get presents.....then its all over by like noon...I grew up in one of those Christian/Jewish households too...and we usually celebrated both...but even Hannukah is not my favorite Jewish holiday

 

Totally agree with you... Last x-mas Nick's mom asked me what I wanted... I told her nothing, a smile, a hug, whatever, but she INSISTED so that I would give her a LIST of presents. I didn't... and she got upset!! I don't get it.

I celebrate Christmas with my family too, but it's so different, so not extravagant. And I usually tell people who ask me why I celebrate Christmas if I'm not religious, that I like Jesus as a person, which doesn't mean that I like Christianity, Jesus was not Christian, people made him one...

xmas... i like shopping and i like getting stuff too Plus I usually get all my shopping done fairly early (by the 15th usually) since I work in a mall and all Fortunately most people don't do any xmas shopping at shoe stores, so we don't even get all that crazy

plus xmas baking is sooo much fun! WHEEE

 

i really like christmas.

i just love that cozy feeling i get around that time of year... i dont care if people say it's fake or whatever, i love it. being around friends and family and cooking lots of wonderful things and the oven heating up the house, decorating a tree, eating steamed shrimp and crabs on christmas eve, making cards, opening cards and gifts...

my family is great to be around at christmas.....

 

woah woah woah........ I dont mean to go off onto a religious tangeant here.... he was a jew, yes, but he did start the catholic (christian) religion. he broke away from the jewish church, well he and his apostles.

 

my fave holiday has to be arbour day.

 

yeah I know its "hip" or whatever to hate xmas.... but I enjoy that time of year..... I dont get to see all of my family in one sitting, until those holidays.... its just nice being around family around that time, enjoying each other's company........ the gift giving and receiving isnt as big to me as it used to be, but I just love the "warmth" of the whole season......

 

i like it espiecially if it snows just enough that the snow makes it really pretty.

 

I feel the same way about Christmas. I will have to say that it is my favorite. Coming in at a close second is Halloween, much for the same reasons as Cerridwen stated herself.

 

I do nothing for halloween, so that holiday does nothing for me. Im a regular ole scrooge when it comes to that holiday, I dont even give out candy.

 

I seriously hate every holiday out there. They all mean I have to associate with other people that I wouldn't normally otherwise associate with. what a waste of time

 

i would give out candy but no kids come here anyways.

last year i bought a big bag of reeses peanut butter cups and no one came so i ate them all myself. haha.

 

i like earth day cuz its a hippie holiday

 

my favorite holidays are the equinox and the solstices. something about the fluid motion of earth, knowing its hit the top or bottom of a sinewave--or basks, for a moment, in equal parts light and dark just... makes me feel complete, its always a celebration inside me, and each one gets a different character to it.. summer or winter of course, and spring and fall.
