It was either McDonalds or Hardee's they have some MilkShake commercial where some guy is shaking a cow and brushing up on it... Maybe I'm being picky or uptight but I hope not... But that commercial kind of gets to me, sort of offends me ..

That would bother me too. It's like society's saying... "not only do we torture these animals, but we think it's hilarious!" I saw the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie, and there was this one part that bothered me. In the movie, they passed by this one room in the candy factpry where a cow was being hanged up and whipped by oompaloompas, because they were making "whipped cream". And this was a movie aimed at children. No wonder so many people in this country have no respect for animals, when violence against animals is portrayed as comical.
Yeah I'm glad someone else agrees, I think it's just... uncalled for, something just feels wrong when I watch it... Who can you contact about things like that? The FCC? Hardee's themself or what?
Sure, you can write a letter to Hardees telling them that their advertisement was offensive. You may not get a response, but it's worth a shot.
Actually, what I see as being worse is the way most of us are raised think of meat, egg, and dairy farms as happy little family-owned places out in the countryside where animals are treated well and allowed to go outside and roam the fields and such, so we really don't see anything wrong with consuming meat and animal products, when in reality, sure there are a few farms like this, but a majority aren't! They're cruel warehouses where animals are mistreated, fattened, and jacked full of hormones then inhumanely slaughtered!
Oh, I dunno. Violence against people is portrayed as comical too. I wouldn't read too much into that.
yeah but a person can fight back a lot easier than a cow can.....when i went to see C&CF, there was a preview for a movie called Barnyard or something like that and it showed some dumbass kid cow tipping but then later on the cows got together and tipped him while he was sleeping, i thought that was awesome

It depends on the context. It is in cartoon violence, for example. It only becomes a problem if you're laughing at the suffering of the other creature rather than laughing at the absurdity of the situation. Maybe some people have a problem drawing a distinction between those two things.
I see what you mean- but too much violence portrayed as comedy numbs people into believing that it's acceptable behavior. Especially for children. While, as adults, we can differentiate between such things, young minds usually cannot.
