i have never seen it but i want to....seeing the original play would have been pretty amazing....but i wasnt born in time
My 8th grade "gifted program" teacher was in it. She was an extra in the final protest scene, she's somewhere atop some dude's shoulders wearing bellbottom jeans, a headband and I think a white blouse exposing midriff. She was badass.
^wow that's awesome, aerosolhalos. it's my favourite movie actually! i love it so so much, it just makes me feel happy and...all that stuff that i won't mention because it's cliqued! i first heard about Hair on this forum a couple of years ago, and the next day my dad (who also likes to consider himself a bit of a hippy) brought it home the next day on dvd. now i watch it all the time cos it's just too cool to leave in the drawer.
It's good. I'd like to see the play, because, from what I've heard, they're very, very different. But it's still a good movie.
Yeah, I've got the DVD, it's a great movie. A few months later I bought the soundtrack from the original Broadway production, which sounded way different because of the different actors back then, had more songs and of course a less clear sound. But yeah, I like the movie a lot. Gotta love Woof. S3xx0rz!
Yeah, I like ther scene when the song "Hair" begins, with the scissors and when he screams "No,No,No!!!!!!!!" "She asks me why I'm just a hairy guy I'm hairy noon and night Hair that's a fright I'm hairy high and low Don't ask me why Don't know It's not for lack of break Like the Grateful Dead Darling Gimme head with hair Long beautiful hair Shining, gleaming, Streaming, flaxen, waxen Give me down to there hair Shoulder length or longer Here baby, there mama Everywhere daddy daddy Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair Flow it, show it Long as God can grow it My hair Let it fly in the breeze And get caught in the trees Give a home to the fleas in my hair A home for fleas A hive for bees A nest for birds There ain't no words For the beauty, the splendor, the wonder Of my... Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair Flow it, show it Long as God can grow it My hair I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy Snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty Oily, greasy, fleecy Shining, gleaming, streaming Flaxen, waxen Knotted, polka-dotted Twisted, beaded, braided Powdered, flowered, and confettied Bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied! Oh say can you see My eyes if you can Then my hair's too short Down to here Down to there Down to where It stops by itself They'll be ga ga at the go go When they see me in my toga My toga made of blond Brilliantined Biblical hair My hair like Jesus wore it Hallelujah I adore it Hallelujah Mary loved her son Why don't my mother love me? Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair Flow it, show it Long as God can grow it My hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair Flow it, show it Long as God can grow it My hair" Oh God, I adore that song....
As someone who's seen both the play and the movie, I would have to say that yes, they're very different. I like both but I like the play more. I don't know why, but I just don't like Claude and Sheila as normal people, in the play, they're both hippies. Also, some of the songs don't make sense in the movie version since they changed the story so much. I'll still watch the movie though. I fast forward over the scenes I don't like. One thing I can say about the movie though, Woof's character is more likeable in the movie than in the play.
