She's a selfish bitch because since she pulled that stunt to get heat off of Mikey-boy, or promote her upcoming record, or whatever her reason was, the FCC is now systematically stomping out free speech across the country...but I doubt you care about that. And don't say that she wasn't the reason, because she is. Or at least a great deal of it. It allowed them to say "for the sake of the children...the children!!! we need to stop this kind of stuff from happening!!" and now anyone with any message they don't agree with will be eventually silenced. Maybe it would have happened eventually anyway, but that incident was what sparked the FCC to action.

 

If it wasn't Janet Jackson with her boob, it would have been someone else with another part of his/her body (I agree with you on that).
But my point was that probably nobody here knows her personally (and I do realise that those famous stars won't be the sweethearts they pretend to be, but nobody is!).
But you've just said it: "the FCC is now systematically stomping ...". It's FCC that would have taken every opportunity to stomp out the free speech. They only used Janet. If the FCC now selects the "decent" messages than there's a problem with the system (and so that has to be changed). And I actually believe that the "selecting process" has always been there (look at the newspapers).
And please, don't say I don't care about it. It's not because I don't live in the USA I don't care what's going on there. It's a huge problem, I do realise that you know.

I agree that the bood incident SHOULDN'T have been such a big deal.....especially considering all the cop shows they have out there showing dead bodies and such.....and considering it was during a football halftime show, a sport that requires men beat each other and ramming into each other. People don't see a problem with showing 4 hours of violence, but a split second of boob was enough to cause an uproar. Maybe if Justin would've hit Janet with a lead pipe over the head it wouldn't have been such a big deal. It's sick.

I agree that they were probably just looking for an excuse to start censoring shit, but on the other hand it was rather selfish of her to pull a stunt she KNEW wouldn't have been accepted. Her record sells are probably higher though for it, so she probably doesn't give a shit.

I was trying to make a point that both men and women should be allowed to have their shirts off on television. I think it's natural, and have no problem with it. But I realize now that the way I made that point was childish and rude. My apologies.

Anyway, about the breast thing, if you think letting me take off my shirt and not leting you take off yours at the same time and place is making you inferior to me, then you should petition to make me keep my shirt on while you keep yours, not the other way around.

I think as we progress more and more into the future, with all our "new age thinking" we should take with us that which will save the world from its further degradation not the opposite.

If it was something like : men are getting more salary for the same job a woman does and their skill level is the same... then that is wrong and you can protest it... but if some one is allowed to run around naked like an animal and you are not , that does not mean that you should protest so that you can run around naked too...

Janet Jackson isn't the reason why we have the FCC. Far from it. Nor is she what the FCC used to seize such power.

The FCC used the soccer moms who got angry with Janet along with the people who constantly protest against Howard Stern. And they certainly had a bit of a push from out republican president, the same one who pushes morality when it comes to marriage and other issues.

And, you're a fucking idiot windbag if you think we're headed towards 1984's Oceania anytime soon. We still have a lot of free speech, things just fluctuate as different political parties jockey for power in the senate and the white house. So we saw Janet's nipple. Big fat hairy deal.

There are all sorts of places where people who are looking for nipples (and other bits) can go to find them.

What really seems to have freaked people out was seeing it in the Super Bowl halftime show.

I was watching the Super Bowl and the halftime show, and I saw Justin and Janet "entertaining" the crowd and didn't see the nipple.

Frankly, conservatives mystify me. So long as bodies aren't being abused, I have no problem seeing them. Admittedly, I find some more entertaining than others. Janet's music wasn't selling and she wasn't the celebrity she once was, so she had to do something for exposure.

 

FYI, it's called a nipple shield. It's like a charm for nipple rings/bars. I thought of getting some when I had mine pierced. And yeah they have holes in the center for the nipple to go through, otherwise they wouldn't stay on as the nipple ring/bar has to be put on over the thing. And though I'm sure it was indeed a publicity stunt, some people actually do end up wearing them under their clothes anyway just because.
