She has recently moved... she is now outdoors more often and we are in a new house. But the last few days I have noticed that she is sneezing a lot and also has some raised patches that she is scratching. I got her a flea collar today hoping to clear things up but I am wondering what is behind the sneezing, may have found a tiny bit of flea detritus today while petting, but not quite sure. Does anyone have any insight? Can't really afford another vet trip as she got a kitty hysterectomy three weeks ago. H
Flea collars are a waste of money(so are flea shampoos)....they dont work. the fleas merely gravitate toward the animals backside. get her some frontline plus (its the best) kills all stages of fleas and ticks as well. it also blocks the fleas from being able to reproduce so they wont become a problem in your new place. flea allergies are not fun.....but once the fleas are gone it should clear up pretty fast. a single packet at the vet costs from 15-18 dollars and its like 30 bucks for a pack of 3 or somthing. she may also have a bit of a sinus infection....my dog lily has a small sinus infection and the meds were only like $13 plus a small check up fee.....she's fine now. if it is a sinus infection....half of a baby asprin once per day will help with the inflamation.....come to think of it though, i know that its ok for for dogs to have the baby asprin but ive never had to give it to my cat...i assume its ok but check with your vet first if you decide to ~
If it's a flea problem, you could try mixing garlic into her food. I've read that this is a great way to help your cat avoid fleas, because fleas despise the smell, and apparently cats don't mind the taste in their food. My cat always get ticks, but never fleas. i got him Frontline, but it didn't really do much for him.
