I smoke Cannabis. Cannabis is a plant that has been with us for thousands of years, giving us untold benefits and millenia of chill time. Marijuana is a made up word, it was meant to sound Mexican (it's not, in mexico they say malta). Marijuana is racist.

Back around 1890, in Mexico there was a brand of cigarette rolling tobacco. The brand name was Marijuana, which was the name supposedly of the drawing of a woman on the package. Because Marijuana is a woman's name--Mary Jane in english. By the 1920's it became a slang term for pot. After alcohol prohibition was repealed, the gov't needed a new intoxicant to demonize. They called hemp/cannibus marijuana, to make it sound foreign. No one was afraid of hemp. It's benefits to mankind date back into prehistory. It provided fiber, oil, food, and medicine, and people were familiar with it. The draft of the U.S. Constitution was written on hemp paper, the first U.S. flag was made from hemp cloth. Hemp supplied sails for ships (canvas=cannibus) and rope. But by calling it by a foreign name, the gov't was able to mislead people. Most drug prohibition is based on rascism. In the teens or 20's the gov't outlawed powdered cocaine (which minorities preferred) but still allowed it's inclusion in patent medicine (which whitey preferred). This has carried through to this day. The penalties for crack cocaine (which minoritites prefer) is twice as severe as for powdered cocaine (again, which white people prefer).

all the mexicans i've ever met call it "mota," not "malta." i used to sell nugs to illegal mexicans (at a brazilian steakhouse i used to work at) who couldn't get good bud. i've also been to mexico twice. and i also dated a girl in Spain who was from mexico and they all call it "mota." when i'm in Spain or Mexico i usually call it "maria," but that's still not "malta"--where did you hear this word?

Marijuana = Maria y Juan, in English, Mary and John; the two people at Jesus' feet on the cross. They were his only friends who stood by him in the worst of times...just like marijuana does for the worker. Anyways, it doesn't really matter, because it's all referring to the same thing: weed, hemp, cannabis, pot, marijuana, grass, dope, green, tree, ganja...it's all the same. And whatever it means, marijuana is understood to be the name of the drug, the "proper" name (as it refers to the buds alone, while Cannabis refers to the whole plant).

I smoke some bud too, but not to get my "inner peace" or connection with w/e or to look at nature, i jus smoke it to get ripped, and if i wanna do anything I listed before, Ill do it sober, or ripped, whichever way I feel like.
