If Jesus Christ is not God, was it just dumb luck that He fulfilled the 300 prophecies of the Old Testament? And is it just an accident that the Jews have returned to Israel, and have retaken Jerusalem? And was it just dumb luck that we find the East Gate of Jerusalem built over the Old Gate, and that gate is sealed today just as the Bible said it would be? And when the Moslems found out about the prophecy, twice in the last century they tried to break through the Gate to break the prophecy but failed to do so, just as the Bible said they would. Was that just dumb luck to. I believe people who ignore solid facts that can be tested for accuracy, are the ones who have their head in the clouds. And I believe that when the Bible states that in the Last days perlious times would come, and when the Bible indicates that the last battle on earth will be over the control of Jerusalem, it could only be authored by a God who knew the future. In the 1800's Mark Twain who was over in the Middle East at the time said of Jerusalem. Nothing but swamp land, poor Jerusalem, never to rise again. Yet at the same time, Christians were preaching that before Christ returns, the Jews will return to Israel and retake Jerusalem. The Christians of that time could speak with confidence, because the book the were following was not a Book of lies, but truth.
Prophecies? Eh, some would "interpret" those a little different than you, my friend. Like several MILLION people from other religions including Judaism and Islam. And for the rest? I don't believe in luck nor a God. So, apparently there are other reasons for certain happenings. Just because you "interpret" things one way, you are right and millions of others are wrong, huh? I don't ignore solid FACTS. I ignore vague ramblings and "interpretations" of vague ramblings. I don't attribute every coincidence or happening to my PRE-CONCEIVED NOTIONS. We've been hearing the "last days" forever now, and many denominations believe differently than you. The return to Israel PROVES THE BIBLE!!! Yep, I am convinced now that everything in the Bible is 100% accurate and true!!!! NOT! Perhaps before we jump the gun, it is well to consider other possibilities and other religious "interpretations" or just to disregard the supernatural until there is further evidence to SUBSTANTIATE it. It is clear that your idea of what 'Jesus' is, does not mesh with the path in life that you have chosen. You are asking people to get you wet, when you are in an air tight bubble. It is likely that if you ever do find truth in Jesus's message it will be in an unflashy way. I myself have to take some of the things said in the New Testament with a grain of salt or two. Many of the things said in the Gospels were written 100 years or more after the fact. But on the whole His message is one to respect. I say sing it Doobie Brothers! Jesus is just alright with me...I don't care they may say...I don't care what they may do...I don't care what they may say...Jesus is just alright... You can get the mp3 at my site if you want to hear the rest. www.woodstockanddeadseascrolls.net
i concur! just edging in here because i don't think anyone answered you yet. i'm assuming libertine is referring to....this... bit of biblical racism: where the jews are the 'masters' and everyone else is a dog. ok, so i looked up some christian feedback on these verses, and found...this: uh, noo.......... jesus was pretty clearly speaking as a racist. the israelites are seen by god as the chosen ones, and the non-israelites are nothing but dogs beneath them. it's not surprising at all when read alongside the rest of the bible - racial hierarchy is what the bible is all about. btw, some other times the term 'dog' is used: dogs were scavengers (Ex 22:31), received only the unclean (Mt 7:6; 15:26), were indolent and stupid (Is 56:10 f.), and at night noisily took over the streets of the town (Ps 59:6, 14). Their disgusting eating habits (Pr 26:11; 2Pt 2:22) were noted; "dog" was a term of contempt (Dt 23:18) . . from a site called faithtofaith; it also makes note of the hebrew word "keleb", meaning "dog", but which is also used as a euphemism for "male prostitute" ie: Dt 23:18 "Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto the LORD thy God." so yes, jesus is calling the woman a dog in an insulting manner. in fact, calling all the non-israelites "dogs" and "swine". (let's not forget: “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.” (Matthew 7:6)) interestingly, throughout the book of matthew, there is a much stronger emphasis on keeping the jewish law; matthew obviously accepted the inclusion of gentiles into the church but only with a lot of suspicion. he very obviously still considered the "true israel" as key, definitely more so than the other gospels. in matthew 10, we have the words, "Go nowhere among the Gentiles! and enter no town of the Samaritans! but go rather to the lost sheep of ISRAEL..." contrasted with paul or mark, who are a lot more easy-going in regards to jewish purity laws, matthew is much more conservative, and thus, the matthew-jesus follows suit. poor matthew. caught between the OT's "only the Israelites are God's Chosen People" and the increasing "the Gentiles are OK after all" doctrines. What's a Jewish-Christian to do? ha ha i don't blame him. i can't read the OT and the NT together and still see straight, either.
1) People were headed to Hell in the first place and no one was good enough for heaven. 2) Jesus came to help us out, His blood atones for everyones sin (everyone that wants it). 3) No more animal sacrifice, Jesus was the ultimate. 4) Hell IS a real, physical place at the center of the Earth.
Weeeeelll, I'm not too sure about that quote there. I'm no expert, but I don't think the Dead Sea Scrolls prove that the Bible is the word of God. In fact, I'm nearly positive that they don't. This is an interesting thread, though, and has inspired me to become more educated about religion and history.
there's one small fragment that one scholar has interpreted to be a very small portion of the gospel of Mark. Last I heard he's the only one who thinks so.
someone needs to start a thread discussing the validity or simply the relevance of, the dead sea scrolls. to edumacate people like me.
you'd probably do better checking out a site devoted to it. In here you'd get alot of unsubstantiated opinion. It's all pretty interesting, as are the essenes who wrote the scrolls.
impossible! "jesus" can not be a hypocite.......period....... for "jesus" is but the imagined name given to one head of an imagined three headed "god"....... now The Messiah, yes He "loved his ememies", loved them even as they crucified Him....... "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do".......period....... thing is you have not received forgiveness, and until then "love" to you will be but a four letter word;-(((((( and while there is breath(spirit) there is hope! Miracles do happen! HalleluYah! may you receive The Miracle that is forgiveness....... peace, even as war(spiritual and carnal) rages....... francis
LOL yes, but reading that crap just reminds me of growing up in private christian schools and makes me laugh as I am Pagan now. I remember thinking in the 4th grade that if I heard the word HalleluYah again I was gonn PUKE!
and the lord of the rings is way to involved to be a simple adventure story. what i don't understand is how the bible came to be what it is. maybe foe the simple fact that churches are like kingdoms, they would do anything to maintain control of their zombies, or followers. but the priests have something that kings do not, the oldest surviving document known to man. and luckily enough for them, thier is no proof of who wrote it or when it was written. conveinent. so, what does the church do? instill the fear of thier god in the zombies who fall for it. and seeings no one knows when it was written, it has to be from the mouth of god himself. god, the most powerfull of imaginary friends. careful, diplease him and you will be smote. i challenge anyone to prove to me that god exists using science, we use your system agianst you(the bible). i dare you to use ours(science) against us. until then, quit telling me my preception of your storybook is wrong. i wish you the best of luck -boss_d.j.
Jesus was/is a Pleiajan star being. He incarnated here to try and say love is always more powerful that the darkness of hate and hypocrasy, that the holy peace I feel, brings comfort. But if you understand that despising the actions, not the beings themselves, but the actions of the beings that hurt other beings, as being holy, that's not a bad thing. Hating the actions of a child rapist for example is not wrong. And in his next life, he will probablt get his. Or live in a etheric version of hell for a while till he's sorry. Point being, hating evil actions is not unnatural. Jesus was/is very mindful of how crazy the world was back then, and have somethings haven't changed much. The actions of the freemasons, OTO, skulls, CIA, all working to make this place hellish, just like the Sanhedran did. But he's not a hypocrite. He reveres all that is light and good. But he doesn't like the actions of evil, or lies. When Lot called in Yahweh (Pliadean stellar ships) to blast sodom and gomohrra, he wasn't wrong - they removed all the good people from the town before they blasted it anyway. Nobody likes the actions of a paedophile. Oh and by the way, they did not turn Lot's wife into a pillar of salt. They gave her the salt of the earth, but as usual, jehovah stuff up that interpretation. Personally, I like being a star- being. Sure beats being un-enlightened.
