I haven´t really tried to have a lucid dream, it just happens to me. Is like.. ohh I´m dreaming... look at this guy.. let me ask him something.. is fun, is like i´m watching a movie i made about myself, but i can feel free to change anything in it at anytime.

From now on.. I´m gonna try to gain more control over my lucid dream.

I've had 3 LDs so far. They are amazing and exhilarating. I'm finally learning to fly in my dreams.

I used to have one as a kid repeatedly, slightly different but i could control it. It would be set in the horse stables and the characters in the dream was me my mum 2 of my friends and my dad. I lived with my mum at this time but she was like an evil witch in my dreams and she was trying to kill me and my dad and friends and it would get to the point where id be confrunting her and shed threaten to kill us and id just say "no you cant, because i can open my eyes and then you die" and id open my eyes and then close them and be back inthe dream again and she wouldnt be there.

i wanted to try and start doing this a while back, but it's alot of work to be able to learn how to do it, if you weren't given some sort of natural ability to do it.

i really dont' want to tell myself what to dream b/c what if you had a dream that could help you are tell you something that is fixen to happen you would never know b/c you never let your dreams come naturally so in the long run i'd rather know if something was bad was fixen to happen to me are someone else

flying in my dreams is hard...it's hard to forget the rules of reality in a dream. for instance i'll be a few feet off the ground then fall back down, afraid of falling from higher up, afraid of hurting myself..it's hard to let go. i had an amazing dream last night though
I was on my computer, i typed in the words "white beach" and a pure white beach appeared on the screen...clear blue water...i wanted to reach it so badly..i could feel the ocean breeze through the screen. i touched the screen and felt sand, felt it fall through my fingers..then i willed it to reality...i was suddenly at that beach...it was beautiful...breathtakingly beautiful...the most perfect beach imaginable and it was all mine...i love it : )

I have lots of lucid dreams, it's taken me a year or so to master them, and boy do i know how to have fun!
My first experience was a very emotion lucid dream featuring a dear friend who had recently died of cancer. It was so real..it was unreal! (If you get me!)
Anyway, after that i became having many and i would totally know i was dreaming and control them exactly as i choose! I did start to get out of hand once or twice :& so ive now calmed down and try and find meanings in them.
It's nice if im missing a lost loved one and i can make up meet up again in the R.E.M zone. Groovy huh?! Peace out. Rainbow

I'm with her on this one. I guess lucid dreaming would be okay, but I think dreaming is a very wonderful and improtant thing. It's like your brain or spirit's way of getting through to you, when you don't have all of the bustle of daytime living to distract you. Why would you want to force it to do what YOU want it to, or alter the course of it? I suppose it would be a handy thing to be able to do if you were having a nightmare or something, but otherwise I don't see the point of it.

Wow, i am pleased w/ all the responses....thank you everyone for posting...

but i must say moonshyne and beautiful..i do not agree...
before lucid dreaming..i used to have dreams i was at work , nightmares, or i know this sounds crazy but i had alot of morbid dreams...it was awful..my dreams were always a mess of things that happened during the day...so once i discovered lucid dreaming..all of that went away...now i have wonderful dreams everynight..it's not like i really sit there and tell myself to dream about a specific thing...they still occur naturally..i can just realize it's a dream and let loose you know...it's not all bad...dreamin is a phenomonom of sleep.......

I don't practice it, I just do it. It is as normal as breathing for me, really. I never knew what it was, so I never thought it was special or anything.

Alot of the time, though. I get so involved, I'll wake up and get angry because I wasn't experiencing what I was in the dream and I wkae up thinking it was actually real, even though I really knew it was just a dream, but that's how invovled I get even though it's just a dream.

It's gotten to the point where I feel what I feel in my dream. If I am being physically hurt/killed I'll feel it. Somehow I manage to stay asleep through all of this which is the stranger part.

I have this recurring dream where I can touch things and they become invisible. Well, only humans or animals. And I can control what I touch and what I don't touch. I have it alot and it's strange.

If you want to know more or jsut want another good site to go to w/ forums and a dream dictionary and all kinds of other useful information go to www.dreammoods.com. One of the best sties I've ever been to on this kind if stuff.

it is 6:51am and I am trying one of the ideas on that site- NILD. Sleep for 6 hours, wake up for 1.5h, eat some chocolate (for caffeineÑman this is sooo rough), then go back to sleep but remain concious. Should be interesting!
Meanwhile it is a fabulous morning!!!!!

HEHE sweet...I just usually lay in bed and think about it.....and then i remain somewhat concious while sleeping...or i just all the sudden during a dream realize that it's not real cuz i notice 'dream signs'

i think it's so kewl that i still sleep well and feel reseted even though i was aware all night...:)

I have had two actual lucid dreams (which both ended very soon after turning lucid) and a whole slew of semi-lucid dreams -- the kind in which I am still stuck in the reality that the dream made up for me, but thinking and acting on my own for the most part. Even in those not-quite-lucid dreams, I have found myself becoming kind of all-powerful, able to will stuff to happen.

I have had a lot of nightmares that got so terrifying that I willed myself to jettison out of sleep! I realize that if I could do that, I probably was just this side of making the dream turn lucid.

I have to say that I envy the people here who can readily have lucid dreams at will. I hope to get there someday -- I do certainly believe it is possible, especially since I am an avid and vivid dreamer most of the time. I'm going to check out that site tomorrow. I have also read about this device called the Novadreamer, which promises to train people to turn dreams lucid. It's like $300 though, and although I could get myself one, I prefer to do it the hard/old-fashioned way.

    Blue skies,
    -Jeffrey
