OK, it is NOT a fact , but more of a general feeling i have about buddist people. I have travelled quite a lot, asia and africa, I can say, as a girl, it is wonderdul to travel in budhist counties, as thailand for instance (or north india, in Mac loed, where tibetans refugees stay). I never feel threatened as in Africa, where the men touch, tease and say drity things to women... in thailand i have always a great vibes, people do have a special something, people say it's because they smile a lot, it's much deeper than that, they have spiritual maturity, that is so beautiful... ok this is VERY general, but still, in India, hindu people can be very warm (if they are not trying to flirt or sell you something) but they don't give out this absolut freedom feel I get in thailand.
