do you litter? My fiance doesn't, and if I do he gives me that look so I am tryin to stop. I dont litter bad, just a habit to flick my cigarette butt out the car window!

As a sometime motorcycle rider, I am aware of another reason not to flick a butt out the car window. You know better, but I don't know how to convice you to keep your butts with you until you reach a proper disposal site.

One day I was space keeping an assembly area for an anti-GMO protest. You guessed it, a lot of trash needed to be picked up after the crowd of pro-environmentalists left. Its not so much a matter of commitment as a habit. Litter awareness (and picking it up) is a habit one needs to work to aquire. If the Boy Scouts can "leave nothing but footprints", if Burners can "leave no trace", if employees at Disneyland can be fired for stepping over a piece of trash, anyone can (with practice) become a habitual litter picker-upper.
some litters good i think, like organic waste for example... i bet if people had to put all the crap they made in their backyard for just a month or 2 theyd start think twice about consuming all the shit that they do.
I'm constantly picking up trash while I walk with my girls in tow. You don;t know how many damn butts are on the side of the road, or even in the freakin' PARK untill you open your eyes. The first thing I do when we get to the park everyday is clean up all the trash that people have strewn about. Now why don;t they have a trash can? Maybe I should buy them one
Littering is a problem here too.. every village here gets a weekly pick up of garbish.. still every street corner is full of empty cola cans, paper etc...we need definiteley some discipline here.. put 3 garbish tins on a corner...and still people make it a point to put something next too it:& Littering has got a minimum fine of 500euro here.. I travelled through countries like Norway,Switserland... no littering there...why can't we then??? We should all move over to Singapore.. there no chewing gum allowed...not flushing the toilet.. will cost you a fine if caught:H Emiel
Litering is a widespred problem. The best way to go about making a difference is doing your part by throwing away your trash. It is also very helpful to pick up other peoples trash. When ever i see trash blowing in the wind or a goddam ciggeret butt i always pick it up. It would be realy grate if we could get together and form gatherings of people to clean this planet.
baby bud, there is NO reason to throw butts out of the widow. do you drop them in your kitchen floor and leave them there? Would you do that in a good friend's house? If not, why do it in the most public of spaces that belong to everyone? Why disrespect your fellow people and critters?
You have a good point and I don't like seeing trashy places either, but where do you think the nonbiodegradeable butts go after the ashtray? The most likely end up in a landfill somewhere and lead to a highly polluted site somewhere. I say don't consume nonbiodegradeable products in the first place!!!
