Elementary and middle school are just franchises. You need back packs, pencis, paper, crayons, and the school needs to buy text books, desks, and all that other stuff. Half the reason those schools are being kept alive is so that stores can sell stuff to them. You notice stores always give money to the schools? They don't really care about the kids education. Its just an investment. I learned middle and elementary school. Its really up to the teacher then, if the teachers teach you anything or not.

It's a little funny when what you're learning is supposed to be critical knowledge, yet the teacher doesn't even know the answer without looking at a book :p

Nothing to do with franchises. 100% social conditioning, of the mind, for labor. I'd list all the direct relations, of work and "school", but I don't feel like it. Just think about it. Your time in training is paid for 9999999x over your life of taxes and production.

^true. It's also to keep kids dependant on their parents till they're 18 or older, kids who also are major consumers (not only school supplies, but music, clothes, tvs, dvds, etc).

Consider this. We say we put kids through all that schooling, 13 years, more if college, but still, they have to start at the bottom level. If school really taught us anything useful, graduates would be entering in the middle levels, right? Thus, reality (and not theory) proves that skills are learned on the job and NOT in the classroom. Some booklearning is useful for doctors and lawyers, perhaps (as has always been the case) but for most jobs, hands on experience would be all one needs. Why should a carpenter apprentice waste his time in school when his trade sponsor is going to teach him all he needs to know? Why should the businessman take all those accounting, marketing, and sales classes if he could learn all that on the job from his seniors? This all means that we leave high school with zero real skills. Equivalent to a 5 year old in a "primative" society where kids are taught through experience. Survival skills are very low for the graduate, and it will take him a long time to get any real security.

Imagine the unemployment rates if kids learned like normal humans, by experience and by imitation of adults, rather than conditioning and rote learning (which is all quickly forgotten anyways). Not only would there be too many workers, but also, the kids would be starting above where their parents are, or at least competing for the same job.
