I'm thinking about moving to Montreal with a friend of mine, any thoughts/suggestions? I really don't know much about the place, I was just kind of invited to move there.....

The only I know about Montreal that could be of some use is that the Olympic Stadium looks like a space ship landing beside the road.

I've been to Montreal several times to visit relatives. More of a sense of 'culture' than most other provinces. Great subway system(the 'metro') and buses. If you speak French it would make the transition much easier, but even if not many people speak both in shops and such. Oh, and the Mount Royale bagels are the best!

Nice city, visited several times. It's got a cool night life. Don't worry about the French thing, everyone speaks English as well. One warning I'd have for you is about driving, especially driving downtown. If you're a timid driver, then don't bother, cause you're not gonna get anywhere unless you cut people off, weave around and basically drive like an idiot with no regard to human life. That's the only way to get from point A to point B in any kind of timely manner....take the metro......
