Hi Folks... Awhile back one of you posted the name and type of a small a/c unit that wouldn't kill the electricity bill too hard. If anyone knows of one...or remembers the post info, please post back. I just spent $$$ on two Daystar A/C hoods for 1000hps'...fully vented...and the damn room STILL won't idle around 85 degrees. I'm blowing out the CO2 too often and the plants are showing heat stress rather than synergizing the CO2 and handling the temp. Bumming me out...and this is supposed to be fun. Any heat related advice would be great. TKS
This unit here uses .6 amps more then a 600 hps at a good price. http://www.priceground.com/su10poaircom.html
Thanks MeanG... Do you use this unit? Does it perform well? I notice it requires an exhaust hose...so is this venting out my CO2 or does the air stay in the room just going round and round so to speak? Thanks. (I just know when I solve this problem it will be snowing again and the issue will be moot until next summer!)
I run a/c 600's so I know what ya mean.As for the air conditioner,it pulls air thru the side so set it up to where it has a intake from another room and the exhaust is pretty hot so it needs to be displace accordingly. If ya set it up pulling air from another room it will not pull the co2 from the grow room.Whats really nice about that specific model a/c unit is its ability to self evaporate, and depending on the humidity where ya live ya only have to empty the condensation tray 1-5 times a month.
Cool...(no pun intended)...I'll look into the unit. I'm now thinking I should drop down to two 600's and not the twin 1000 setup in the flower room. Just too much darn heat and the electric meter has taken on a new "speed" when I engaged the second ballast. Yuck. Combined with the CO2 generator...there's just too much ambient heat. My grow area is a divided container-type arrangement. It's a very sealed environment with the blowers/vents on timers and sensors, etc. The "air" that comes in is from the garage, which in the winter is plenty cold and in the summer not cold enough. If I place the a/c in the veg room...(closest room to outside)...do I vent the exhaust air of the a/c OUT?? Or does it require two vents...one in, one out? No humidity worries here...high and dry. Thanks.
The a/c unit essentially sucks air in one side of the unit and they supply ya a exhaust hose to displace the heat of the exhaust accordingly.600's also give ya more lumens per watt then a 1000 with 40% less heat and much easier on the electric bill.I have no heat probs in the winter as well as outside temps average 0-30 all winter long and the room avg's about 60-65 with lites out and 75-80 while on.Winter is great.
Gonna have to get me one soon, Just got a job doing construction- starting on a deck tomorrow... Yeah buddy, started at 17 because i wanna eat- but he will bump me up nice once he finds out what i can do. Im stoked- I like this one with heat- fusarium thrives below 65 so i may get this model. http://store.priceground.com/su10poaircow.html
Thanks MeanG... I don't remember if you're running a CO2 generator...but mine definitely is the "heat culprit" during the summer. Winter not a problem. Area surrounding the container is very cold. To switch to the 600's I've got to find a good deal. Bummer that these 1000's are too costly and hot. Thanks.
Yes ,I run a greenair generator and it increases the ambient room temps by 4-6 degrees in the summer and just a couple on the winter.
In Jorge's bible...it says 85 is the prime temp when you have a C02 generator....and differnet opinions?
Yeah, I've got the same book and that's what it says in there. However a few other books allow for higher heat if being supplemented with CO2 and good ventilation. "The Cannibis Grow Bible" by Greg Green shows temps can be allowed to 95...yikes...but I try to keep things below 90. I'll be glad to have Winter put things back to "cool"...
