Of the holy trinity Brahma has all but disappered ? I find No temples dedicated to him ? Has this always been the case or is it only now His consort Saraswathi meanwhile is still worshipped and quite popular I wonder why Brahma has declined in popularity ? and also to those who have read ancient scriptures do we come across any specific information as to where brahma's abode is ? Just need this info for something thank you all in advance
Interesting question. I have thought about it also, since Shiva and Vishnu have such large followings... My expplanation, take it or leave it, is that Brahma is the devata of buddhi, of intellect. Where does the intellect reside? Within the body. Therefore our bodies are themselves temples of Brahmaji. Also, while there are several puranas that tell tales of Vishnu and Siva, there is no such text about Brahma. He appears as an important character in the others, but always as secondary. The essential thing is that Brahma is NOT the supreme entity. Although he is the creator, it is said that there are infinite universes, each of which has a separate Brahma appointed to it, whereas Siva and Vishnu are one everywhere. Vaishnava texts will say that Vishnu is the one creative power behind all those separate universes and appoints Brahmas to do that job. Also, Brahma's origin is that he was born from Vishnu. However, if you choose to see him as your ishta devata, feel free to worship. There is an abundance of pictures and paintings of brahmaji, four headed, seated on a lotus, with the vedas in his hands, wise and venerable. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Neither of which are about Brahma. Brahma samhita is Brahma's hymn to Krishna and Brahma sampradaya is a vaishnava sampradaya believed to originate with brahma as their first guru.
come on man, have you ever heard the story about how brahma gets cursed or something... that he will never get a temple... but actually I saw a show on zee tv once and it was about a temple in some Indian village dedicated to brahma.
I heard about that curse concept thing a while ago tho there are many different views on it, some people say that Brahma-Ji's companion Shrimati Saraswati put a curse on him which said he was to be worshiped nowhere but at a temple in rajasthan for having conducted puja with a young girl (mythological person Gayatri?!) instead of her, others say Shiva cursed him because Brahma-Ji lied to him about having found the end of a giant Jyotirlinga... i think his worship kinda disappeared due to his status as creator. With creation, he has fulfilled the foremost of his deeds. however, worship him if you want to do so. see him in every other deity and every other deity in him for they all are one. Greets!
