Actually if you have to be fucked up in order to enjoy any music, then you need to have your ears checked out.
well no, not really. not any music, just tekno, and i think tekno is wicked, but its shit if u aint on pills
cause ya gotta be on drugs to keep that lame mindless crap from giving you a pounding headache & driving you insane
Fuck that there's probably a million DJ's out there who have more knowledge about rhythem, drum patterns, bass placement, and numerous other aspects about music than more than 75% of the musicians out there today. A good musician should be able to take you on a journey and tell a story with their music. All of my favorite DJ's do that and more. If you need drugs to enjoy music I feel bad for you.
everyones saying 'techno' techno is just a sub genre of EDM (electronic dance music), just like hard rock is a sub genre of rock...i hate techno, but i love trance, drum and bass, psytrance, ambient, soundscapes, and various other sub genres of EDM...techno is a sub genre characterized by its hard, abrasive, 'DuB' beats, i cant stand it...so you can dis techno all you want, but there's so much more to EDM then just the popular 'techno' check out trance DJ's like ferry corsten, GTvsProjectC, Above and Beyond, Super8, Smith and Pledger (the list could go on forever) drum and bass like EyeD, and Aphrodite theres so much out there, you cant possibly condem a whole genre of music, because theres no way you've heard all of it and regarding drugs and EDM...isnt it the same for any kind of music?
I listen to Simon Posford, Shpongle, Paul Louth, Omen, Mark Farina, D.R.O., Younger Brother, Eat Static, Fractalien, Christian Bruna, Orchard Lounge, Nocturnal and Debbie D to name a few.
yeah i think thats what people aint gettin. and i stand by what i said, u need drugs to get into techno, im not sayin all dance music, im sayin TECHNO!!!
cause techno quite often inspired by drugs and many dancers use drugs.. quite as simple as that... y is grateful dead associated with drugs? cause of the inspirations and its fan base
i think a few people mentioned it already, but classifying this music as "techno" is completely wrong..techno is a sub genre of electronic music..other sub genres include house, dnb, trance, hardcore, breaks, electro, etc..and from those genres we can break it down even further, resulting in things such as psytrance, progressive trance, progressive house, deep house, tribal techno, funky techno, tech house, electroclash, etc.etc. etc....the list goes on...i personally spin techno as my main genre, but spin dnb and trance on the side as well...hopeing to have my techno demo mix out right away as for drugs and this type of music, it goes way back into the 60's with things such as the Acid Test Parties, and then progressing into the 70's with the disco era, with cocaine being the popular drug of the dance scene. MDMA is now the most common drug used at dance parties..Shulgin started introducing others to this drug in 1968, and by 1977 it was starting to become available on the streets as a recreational drug..MDMA became popular with the "rave" culture in the late 80's and early 90's, with the first "rave" being held in the Netherlands in 1987...some may argue that this could have happened at an earlier date, though anyways, that's just a short piece of information, there's much, much more to it than that..anyone willing to discuss producers/dj's from ALL aspects of electronic music, or the history of the music, or anything regarding electronic music at all, just throw me a PM..i'm always willing to chat it up and to those people saying that you need drugs to listen to this music, give me a fucking break..quit being so ignorant i personally will admit that i have done pills at an all night, massive party, and i had an awesome time..but i have also had an awesome time going to these parties sober..i have been listening to electronic music for almost 4 years now, and will continue to listen to it...i will also continue with dj'ing/spinning records, because it's a passion i have and a very fun hobby for me..it may take me years for it to become a part-time job, or even a career..i was given the opportunity to spin at a bar back home, but unfortunately had to turn it down due to my moving here to westbank..but opportunites like that are a good start, and i hope for another one to come soon i listen to ALL genres of music, and respect it all..even if you don't enjoy electronic music, please don't bash it or make assumptions, respect it like you respect the music you love cheers
