The first time I saw that movie, I was 4. I cried. Last time I saw it, 2 days ago.. and I cried even more! Isn't E.T just so beautiful? I mean it's a beautiful, incredibly touching movie.. which is rare for sci-fi.. That movie is just so special to me. I remember getting very involved and emotional when I would watch it as a little kid. Anybody seen the remastered version? I was impressed... E.T looks so much more real! Which makes him more loveable, and that's probably the reason why I cried even more.. aslo the added scenes..
sorry, I cant stand watching the redone ET...... ET was more lovable when you could tell he was just a prop..... just like freekin yoda on starwars. everyone knew he was a puppet, that was part of his charm, then they digitally recreated him for the new starwars triology. I cant stand that remastered, remade crap! seriously. leave it how it was, when it was rough and rugged.
I agree 100%. Spielberg also wanted to do a re-mastered version of Raiders of the Lost Arc untill Matt Stone and Trey Parker did an episode of South Park slamming Steve about it. Thank God, for that reason, it was never done. Tahnk you Matt and Trey!
Well, it's a matter of perception and taste I guess.. I had nothing against the old E.T, but the new one does look more real and it's more touching I think..
Its all good, to each their own. I just prefer that the classics be left alone. But the only reason they re-master movies like that is to make money.
True for most directors, but I think that E.T is particularly special and important to Spielberg. I totally disagree with the remastering of Star Wars though... loses all its charm.
I guess George Lucas wanted to spice up Episodes 4-6 so they wouldnt look so shitty compared to episodes 1-3. Im not a big fan of Star Wars, can you tell?
Well the new episodes shouldn't have been made.. But anyways, this is an E.T thread, so let's forget about Star Wars
I had to use an example to emphasize my point. still, I think directors should leave their classics alone. period. just think if someone remastered the wizard of oz, and instead of those flying monkey costumes, they had some digitally created monkeys.... that would be terrible now wouldnt it??
You can find The Wizard of Oz synched up with The Dark Side of the Moon online on most p2p networks. I think it's called The Dark Side of Oz. Just type in Oz and it should bring it up.
