People News Bob Geldof's public-speaking fees rocket Aug 3, 2005, 5:06 GMT Campaigning rocker Sir Bob Geldof's public-speaking fees have rocketed from $54,000 (GBP30,000) to $90,000 (GBP50,000) per talk - following his worldwide exposure at last month's ( July 05) star-studded Live 8 concert. The Kruger Crowe agency reassessed Geldof's fees after the historic gig, which the former Boomtown Rat organised to persuade G8 leaders to cancel debt in the developing world, double the aid budget and rewrite global trade laws. And agency bosses are negotiating huge fees for a lecture tour Geldof plans to make across America. Marketing director Mark Kruger says, "We reassessed his fees after Live 8. We have about 20 people on our books, including Gordon Ramsay, Ruby Wax and John Simpson but Geldof is absolutely the most in demand. Everyone wants him. Well im not going to complain about it.. hes doing more for what he beleives than i am. *shrug* lets jst hope he gives some of the money he makes to the corse too.
Maybe you'll be lucky enough to see him in 20 years time, just like we've had the priviledge. I would think he'll need the money for legal costs...as the rest of the Boomtown Rats are suing him.
Geldof is just out there for attention. G8 protests arent meant to be about begging at the feet of g8 leaders to do waht you want. The g8 is a corrupt organization. On a side note bonno really lost any rock n roll rebel appeal he ever had when he was standing side by side with the 8 most powerful people in the world when there was a giant protset going on outside.
I was thinking the same about the G8 summit, everyone just seemed to forget about the outcome. BBC are too busy showing al qaeda videos on the 10pm news, so I guess they just forgot abput G8, unless I missed something of course.
Yeh, well g8 protests are emant to be against g8. They shouldnt be about kissing the leaders feet and hoping that they might give you something.
