    hi, everyone.
i'm looking for suggestions for a hair do for a wedding i'm in. i'm really not good with hair and makeup and girly stuff.
my mom will help me with my makeup, but when i ask for suggestions about my hair, all she says is "cut it". :(

the bride is making appts for us to get our hair done in the morning before the wedding, and says they'll do whatever we want. also, she's ordering flowers for our hair, if we decide we want them. i'm not sure what kind. gotta ask.

also, my hair is loooong, past my butt, so i might not wanna hide it by putting it all up. it's pretty straight, but not pin straight, and no bangs, all one length.
i was thinking of a simple pull-back or something, but i feel like it'll be all over the place (those of you with super long hair, ya know what i mean, right?).

if anyone has ideas, or better yet, PICTURES, please post. the bride lives in a different state, so if i find a 'do i like, i gotta email it to her for the stylist to see ahead of time. or something like that. lol.

anyway, thanks in advance for any suggestions.
btw, you girls and guys make some amazing clothes. i just showed my bf a bunch so he can order me some xmas gifts ;)

    peace.

beware of hair dressers, give them an inch and they will cut off a foot. they love to cut off long hair to something totally unmanageble, so it insures the chics coming back for repeat trims due to having hair at a length thats sucky to do much with. they will make any excuse to cut your hair off, including donate it to charity, it's got split ends, its damaged, blah blah blah, make a trusted friend stand right behind you if you decide to take a little off. personally i say just braid the front in two braids and use it to hold the rest out of your face. let the flag wave!!! and skip the war paint, the stuff is disgusting and is made from some really disgusting stuff.

The times I've gone to formal functions I had some amazingly cool braiding done. It keeps it out of the way and will give you a polished look they want. The shop should have some books there to look thru. Keep in mind that alot of the pics in the books are kinda "runway" styles and they can tone them down, but you should find some elements in the styles that you like. I would suggest going there before the appointment and talking to them there and look thru the books in advance too.

Lazuli, those were great! Yeah, if you can find something online to print and show them that would help, but I would still talk to them before the appt.

astrobreaux: i'm NOT cutting it! that's just what mom wants! and as far as makeup, a little shadow and mascara will do it. hey, for me that's a lot!

lazuli: thanks! those are some great pics on that site...i dunno how complicated this guy's gonna be able to do...like i said, the wedding's out of state, so i won't be there till the night before. we have an appt for 8 am on the day of the wedding (ugh! so EARLY!). but maybe i'll show him some of those braids and see what he can do.
    btw, nice sig--ani rocks. :)

if anyone has other suggestions, please post 'em!
    thanks again, everyone.
    peace.

You could put a wreath of flowers on your head and then keep you hair real simple. Maybe some wispy curls by your face?

Separate two large chunks of hair from around your temples. Put all the hair in back up a giant braid, then wrap the braid around in a bun. With the rest of your hair (from the front), put it in really tight, springy curls. I can't find a picture, and it may sound weird, but it looks neat.

Ok heres an idea. this is just what came into my head when you described the situation.
Take the longer bits of hair from around the sides of your face and pull them back (maybe braid them) and join them together at the back of your head into one long brain down the centre of the back of your head.

Then get him to Straighten the rest of your hair, just to tame it a bit. But then takes some random sections and curl them. So amongst all the straight you have these cute curls.

It also means if you like the flowers hey can be attatched at the top of the braid, or if they are using tiny flowers they can be sewn in down the brain.
