Is it possible to hyperventilate during sleep? Like during a nightmare...and if so,is that considered Night Terrors? I had the worst nightmare last night. When I woke up from the dream,I felt like I was hyperventilating...or like someone had been pushing on my chest. Is that normal? It's never happened before.
I've waken up crying, laughing, orgasming (well, close to ).. so I guess everything is possible while you are dreaming. You can have breathing problems while sleeping, I forgot the name of it but it's quite serious. However, that's a real physical problem.. the way you are describing it sounds more like you just paniced during a dream or something. Care to tell what the dream was about? Also, there is a thing called 'sleep paralysis'.. symptoms are seeing figures in your room (often associated with demons, scary things etc) and having the feeling of being hold down, choked etc. Really scary shit, but easily explained because it has something to do with your body being fully asleep and your mind being in between awakening and dreaming.
Was it about the Gnomes? Ive woke up and been kinda hyperventilating, Like i was short of breath but more of a where i was holding my breath way to long and then took a breath, i dont know why this happened, but i was breathing really hard when i woke up. Well that and i was sweating and had the shit scared outta me. No litteraly but ya know what im sayin...Dont know if this helped probably not... Im kinda scatter brained havent slept yet...
Well,I have oragasmed during sleep quite a bit...I talk in my sleep occassionally, but other than those two things,I think I am fairly normal when it comes to sleep. I have read about sleep paralysis(or Night Terrors)..and it was so freaky sounding. I can't even imagine how terrible that would be. I can't remember the entire dream. What I do remember was being in a strange house, and there were people trying to get me. All of the sudden it turned black outside and it started raining. I was freaking out, because these people were outside driving around the house. So I pick up the phone and frantically dial,to get help...but the line was dead...and then a voice came across the line saying "we're going to get you" over and over. Anyways, when I heard the scary voice on the line,I woke up...and I was literally gasping for breath and my chest felt like there had been pressure on it. I just thought it was so strange, because I've never been gasping for air when I wake up. It probably was just panic though. Thanks for the reply,Velvet
Well...your gnome story may have very well influenced the dream lol...maybe a little atleast. Why haven't you slept?
that does sound pretty scary :/ I have nightmares pretty frequently so in a way I got used to them I guess. If you want to check for the meaning behind some of the dream symbols go to this site: www.dreammoods.com, although you're own initial impression of the meaning of the dream is usually the best
I had to stay at work all day, and we were busy for once so i coulndnt catch a nap...Well hopfully last night was a little better for ya
your brain secretes a drug that paralyzes you while you sleep so yu dont act out your dreams. sometimes, very rarely, you wake up before the brain has a chance to stop secreting the drug, and you are literally paralyzed. it's usually very brief and totally harmless, but it can be quite terrifying a night terror is not a nightmare. i forget what it is exactly, but my friend used to have them during sleepovers. he would wake up screaming, and once he got up and ran into a wall. they are about as fun as a bad acid trip.
I think it's called something like sleep apnea (sp?) or something. My stepfather has it, it used to cause him to stop breathing after every seven seconds or so of breathing during sleep. He now has this breathing device to be hooked up to when he goes to bed.
