just curious...what are all your thoughts about what timothy leary's thoughts about providing education and liscensing for use of lsd..... I couldn't help but think this after months of reading people talk about taking lsd like a 12 year old talks about drinking a case of mountain dew at a slumber party to get wired
yea, it might be a good idea. It might create some raise in the acid manufacturing and there might be more acid for sale, 'cuz where i'm from, you can't find acid anywhere!
umm, i thought that he ment the whole concept of it being legal, but you have to be licensed to use lsd for certain purposes. if it was legal that whole, not bein able to get acid thing, that would go away.
i tinhk people should research a drug befor they do it anyway and get to know it realy well ,as long as you a resiable adult i dont see why you cant do drugs
Taking any drug is a personal choice, and the choice should always lie with the user and no one else. By all means educate me on the effects and after effects of LSD, or any other substance, but don't tell me that I can't take them. That choice is mine and mine alone!
i love lsd. i love psilocybian mushrooms. but i'm not quite sure how i'd feel about them being legal, unless licensed to the psychiatric community and the clergy of whatever religious groups would care to use them as a sacrament. they seem to be all too easily misused and abused, and the psychedelic community today is greatly abusing these almost sacred substances, in my opinion. they've gotten a bad name more than ever recently simply because people want a more "exotic" means of getting "fucked up." the way leary looked at licensing as an ideal is more the same way you are given license to consume alcohol or tobacco or drive a car when you meet certain requirements, not so much that you NEED to sign up for a card or something. the point would be giving people the opportunity to use it legally. all of that said, as much as i'd hate to see even more rampant misuse of these sacraments, people SHOULD be all means have the right to do whatever they wish with their bodies, and people have a god-given right, in my opinion, to use whatever drugs they wish in whatever manner they wish, legally. its just that with current trends in psychedelic use, to be realistic is to say that i'd most likely be sad with the outcome if they were legalized, simply because it would hurt my feelings to see such special things treated so lightly. does that make sense?
I've never read Leary so wouldn't know the details. If LSD was to be sold leagally, liscensing the dealers would seem to be a reasonable step.
I agree with most of you that we should have the freedom to choose what we ingest into our bodies. Although extensive education would be required to inform people of the effects, duration and of course the dangers of the drug. I believe the ability to make informed decisions about ingesting drugs is just as important as freedom of speech. We live in a so called “free” world but we are restricted to what we can do. The laws our government makes are meant to be there to protect the innocent, but equally as important, to protect our individual freedom. Sure the outlaw of drugs protects against innocent people from easily being harmed by drugs but it takes away the right of the responsible people. However, the legalisation of drugs would not be the solution. I believe all drugs should remain illegal, however, I believe the governments themselves should manufacture them. This would eliminate impurities and overdoses. Even the government would be happy with all the extra taxes they would receive. A check on you’re criminal record for any previous drug trafficking charges. A simple appointment with the doctor to inform you of the risks and to check for any medical conditions which may be fatal if you consume drugs. And you walk out with your drug licence and a prescription of the drug of your choice. Make your way home, put on some Pink Floyd and enjoy your LSD trip.
I agree that we should have the right to ingest whatever chemicals we please, but completely legalizing any substance does not work. Cigarettes and Alcohol are legal and look at how many people abuse them and die every year from them. Licensing to only those truley educated and responsible is the only route to take for legalization.
I agree that licensing drugs is the only way for drugs to be legal. I also agree with you that the fact that tobacco and alcohol are legal and not licensed is a bad thing. Sure it is still the person’s choice to take these drugs but the legal age for both these drugs in Australia is 18 years old, however I was able to obtain both of these at the age of 15. I am now an alcoholic and a fulltime smoker. Had I have realised that addiction is not a choice of mind but an actual craving of the mind I doubt I would have taken these drugs. Being young and stupid I had the idea I could overcome addiction. However it all comes down to politics and money. Our governments need the taxes on these products and the country accepts them as social drugs. The large scare campaign the government has brainwashed the citizens has created a sense that all drugs are bad besides alcohol and tobacco. However if the government made the so called bad drugs themselves there would be no impurities and the dosage could be set for the average person. As appose to Joe Smoe cooking the shit up in the back shed. If the government made them there would be less, if not no overdoses. Also the spiritual effects of certain drugs could be explored and documented. However, I doubt this will ever happen due the majority of the public’s view on drugs.
im from Virginia Beach, virginia, and i have been looking for acid now for about a year, and have had no success in doing so. everyone around here seems to bullshit.
