Music has always been important to me. Unfortunately, I don't play any instrument myself (but what isn't still can become), but still I search and find a lot in music. I think that by listening to music I find a way to canalize my emotions. It opens me for all kinds of emotions, happiness, sadness, fear, love, excitement... Music is something incredibly beautiful that guides me through life. The day I won't hear the music anymore, I'll be a sad and broken girl, let's hope that day will never take place. Or like the Libertines sang: "If you've lost your faith in love and music, the end won't be long."

Wow, this may be the 1st thread I've seen where everyone agrees!

Music definitely has a powerful effect. I once read that they did an experiment on dogs in shelters. Group #1 was left alone. Group #2 was played classical music 24h/day. Group #3 was played metal 24h/day... Groups 1 & 3 showed no effect, but group #2 (classical) was a lot calmer, quieter & less stressed out.

Anyhoo... they concluded that music definitely has an effect. Even tho no one can explain how it works. I think they should've had a Group #4 where they give the dogs some guitars, a drum set and a bunch of Marshall amps...

music....or the words have a way of marking events in my life.... a relationship gone wrong... the good and bad things in life...seems to always be someone whos lived it and put it to music... i guess the saddest is when my best friend died...that was my 10yr old puppy...the first song i heard after was 'i believe i can fly'...jesus....still makes me think of her.... but i guess mainly music lifts my spirit... and oh....i sing when i'm driving....loudly and unashamedly....often to the amusement of others..i dont care....music keeps me sane.... is there anyone who could live without it?.... hmmmm i doubt it..

The world is made of music... the firmanent is singing... silence does not exist, life is song....

however you put it, it's a magical, inexplainable force, greater than anything known to me.

You speak very well...and your soul seems to be really honnest...
I am a radar of honnest words...mmmhh at least i try to become one of those lights.
it's every year harder to find honnest souls in a world dominated by the cult of plastic and artificial emotions...

And this libertine (mmhh libertine i like this word :) ...which hippie don't like it?) uhm...this Libertine song is in their 1st album! ...mhhh? i'm not sure... can u delight my hesitation ?

I meant every word I said. Thank you for complenting my words ;)

That sentence comes from "The good old days" - indeed, from the first album "Up the bracket". :)You like The Libertines? (and I also adore the word 'libertine':))

Music can make me angry, sad, happy, it can drown out pain, be used in celebrations, etc. That's how powerfull of an effect it has.

it is a proven scientific fact that music has a healing power to sooth the emotions and psychological, sociological, and physilogical state. ever since the very first civilization cultures have been using music in some form. earlier cultures had medicine men that used music to heal people when they were sick, the Greeks used it in the same way as well as for sending people off to warfare, getting them in the mood to fight, music is used in ceremonies to set a mood of authority and power. its been revered as a very powerful aspect to each individual's life ever since the beginning of time. the Bible even speaks of servants using music to soothe the king's frightened state after God spoke to him ( I really couldn't quote it or tell you the king because I don't read the Bible, I was just told this).
anyhow, of course music has been an important part of my life as well as each of the people in here. I play many instruments and am currently majoring in music therapy. I love music, and I know it is very advantageous to people in need to expose them to music in a meaningful and helpful way to enhance their lives. Im very excited about this path of my life and where it will lead me

hehe, is it that clear? :) well, it's a good thing they're already reunited as friends, but I really want them to make music together again *sigh*

About the album, you won't regret buying it. It's maybe less enthusiastic than the first one, but it's very honest (it's generally about Petes drug problems and the relation of Pete and Carl) and there are some very good songs on it.

Yeah ...i'm sad to see Pete acting like that. One week ago Doherty headbutted the Razorlight guitar/singer BorrellDrugs are eatin is brain... an excess of crack is not a good thing... i understand it ...it reminds me of Kurt Cobain ...the only difference is the end... Doherty will never kill himself but the drugs will maybe have the last word...
I hope he will see the light one of those day... He want to prove that he's the ultimate rocker...

I hope the same thing. It's difficult to keep up the faith sometimes, because each week there's at least one thing about him in the news. Like the Johnny Borrell fight..I mean, Johnny was a friend of his! I don't think the Babyshambles members are good company for him. I'm sure Carlos Barat had a way better mentality. Even when they we're in a fight, Carl always meant to help Pete. Even after the split, when Pete felt hurt and started to blame carl for everything, Carl kept on defending Pete. Aw, I hope Pete will be okay someday. He thinks it's okay now he's not on heroin anymore, but the crack hasn't got a much better effect :(
