Wow, I wasn't able to go to Reggae on the Rocks 20, but that morning Matis said the aliya and read from the Torah in my shul (synagogue).
Everyone think good thoughts, he should be a papa in a few days!
He had some interesting stuff to say to a non head audience about his journey to religious Judaism. Mostly that the music opened a space in his heart and soul.
He doesn't see himself as having heads following:
"I do see some of the same people, but they just want to help get the message out."

I actually heard him on mainstream local radio this week, liked him already, saw him a couple of times at Wakarusa. Was surprised to hear him on the radio though. most mainstream radio is so constipated.

edit to say the dj obviously liked him too, said the disc was on constant repeat in his car.

Why can't people tell the difference? Every time I'm in New York I hear some tourist(s) mumbling about "I never knew there were so many amish people in Manhattan.."

I saw him at a Trey show. It was ok, nothing i'd pay to see. It just didnt do it for me. The only reggae that I listen to is Toots and the Maytals

Because subtlety is too difficult for them?
The hats change from group to group for hassidim (it's HASSIDIC, or "hathidim" if I typed the way I say it ;p )

Clue: the Amish have beards but not mustaches as they were thought of as militaristic.

Anyway, I have listened to some and I think it's great Jewish pop music.
He sems to be proud (?) of his beat box. said he never could sit still and learn (this, the guy who called for a siddur[prayerbook] to make a point in an argument?)
