In the summertime, I'm used to walking barefoot... but this summer was different. I was wearing these icky flip-flops i got from the wholesale store with super thick rubber between my big toe and my second toe. Anyway, I got a blister between my toes, so I took them off and walked on the pavement (I live in the country so our sidewalks are just the highway...behind a painted line) barefoot. I was walking halfway to the next town because my friend got off at the wrong stop on the greyhound so I told him I'd meet him halfway on the high way. Anyway, I took my sandals off just before I finally saw him in the distance, and then walked halfway back barefoot, and put my sandals back on because the road was hot. Now I have 4 big blisters the size of asia (to compliment the ones between my toes) on my feet. This has never happened to me before.. What's it from? I mean really... why do people get blisters? My feet felt fine, it's the blisters that gave me pain... So that's my question... why do we get blisters?

The blister between your toes is from friction, where the thick rubber from your flip flops rubbed your skin. The ones on your soles are a result of burns you sustained from walking on the hot pavement, and that's fairly common in the summertime and we've probably all had them. Regardless of the cause, a blister is simply an area of skin that has been highly irritated and/or damaged.

we get blisters to get us to slow down. you over did it. don't give up just go easy until your feet get back to their natural state. We've all gotten blisters and we've all gotten over them and gone on to barefoot another day

Pop the blisters with a pin and keep on truckin'. They'll get tougher and then you won't get blisters anymore.

Thanks, guys/gals, for all the info. The skin that was separated from my foot became very thick because I kept walking on the blisters (some popped on their own) but with the rest i got some scissors and cut a little notch in them to drain. They're now empty and becoming hard.
