I was looking at Wayne Dyer's web page and theres an articule about Ram Dass who it says is living in a house on Maui where he is recovering still from his stroke and some bacteria infection. Dyer says Ram Dass is in danger of loosing the house and is pretty much broke, so dyer is setting up a fund to try to buy the house and set up a trust to take care of Ram Dass in his old age. This may be old news I don't know, but I really love Ram Dass and have learned alot about kindness and compassion from his books and tapes over the years. To me Ram Dass is like a founding father. I have a great tape of a Ram Dass lecture from the 60s that I'm transcribing and hope to bring online one of these days. He was a great inspiration to me and many others I know. His humor and spiritual playfulness are a joy to hear, and his personal story is legendary.
I met the guy in person at a retreat about a year ago. It was one of the most peaceful joyful times of my life and ram dass is a real treat to hang out with. I wish him well, if I was rich I would send him so money.
Seems to me that if everyone who has been touched by Ram Dass's example and teachings sent him even one dollar he'd have millions and knowing what I know of him he'd probably give most of it away. Back in March, I sent him a few bucks and in late May, I get a thank you note from Ram Dass which I got a real rush from. I had to chuckle on the return address sticker theres a picture of Neem Karoli Baba and the address is from Paia Hiwaii, not Hawaii. A little Ram Dass humor there. All acts of kindness come back, sooner or later or so its been for me. Namaste
I just watched the movie he made in 2001 and it's mindblowing that this is happening. Out of all the popularity of his books and his entire persona. I suppose that medical treatment is really expensive though.
he may be our story but his handlers have been flyin a sign in his name for 2 years now... I dont get when people dont get there makin folks wealthy thru there minds eye compassion...
