Why do a LOT of american radio staions begin with a K.. there is almost a endless stream of them ??.

I don't think the letters stand for anything...... there just identification letters

 

yeah, just id letters I think. It is Canadian though (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) but I don't know what cfcr stands for. Used to be the university radiostation, but now it's independently owned and operated, plays weird music.

 

You both might be right.. it all sounds rather suspicious to me though.

 

the ones around here that come in well are WZIN(the wizard outta vermont) WPYX(PYX 106) WRPI(outta rochester) NPR etc...

 

In the United States...any station east of the Mississippi River starts with the call letter W...any station west of the Mississippi River starts with the call letter K. As for what it stands for...your guess is as good as mine...

except that Pittsburgh has KDKA, the first radio station to broadcast I think.

 

They don't start with the same letters here.. It's like HOT 104.1, TK 101.5, 92.1 ZEW etc.. I think.
