Heh...these people Started Asking me Directions...and it took me a While to Figure out that They Were Talking with an American Accent...^.^ They were an Old Couple and the Woman Wanted to Track Down Where Her Father used to Live...and Wanted to Know where all These Roads Where... And Wow...I Love they Way they Speak...and I said that and they Said they Liked the Way I Speak... Wow...Where did that Accent come From?
Did they tell you where in America they were from? You can hear all types of accents here in America. I'm from the south, so go watch Gone With the Wind, and there ya go. That's my damn accent. Why oh why did I have to be born in the South?
They Stressed Their R's when they Spoke...and Other Letters......and...Oooh I can't even Do it Like They Do... But From all the Countless American Movies...they Sounded Like they Came from the South...But Wow...I'd Could have Spoken to Them For Hours... just Listening How they Said Things...they were Ever so Friendly...
Well you should come visitin' some time. The South can be very interestin'. You just have deal with all 'us shortenin' words, an' talkin' real slow. You might hear someone say budder, and what they mean is butter. Oh and G's become obsolete at the end of words, as I have demonstrated above.
What ? I find southern accents extremely cute. I lived in NC for a year, and found myself starting to pick up the accent. But when I came back to Ohio I re-adopted my northern ways
my husband has a couple guys working for him from alabama and georgia. the girls here in arizona are flipping over them.
Shortening words? Try dropping entire syllables, or adding them unnessecarily. this is a funny site here. We live in GA, my daughter was freaked when she heard how fast some wisconsin relatives were speaking.
im from tennessee, and i usually get that i talk way too fast. then again, i also am usually told i sound like i have no identifiable accent. ah, diddums.
Fer some freakish reason, I developa really strong southern accent when I'm exited. Kinda freaks me out.
I visited Arkansas once and came back with a really strange growth on my.... It's gone now...the growth I mean. There's a new "accent" emerging here in cali due, I'm thinking , to lazyness and too much thc;"President" is now "Presdant", "typical" is now "typkal" It's funny, even some of the news casters here talk like that now. annoys the hell out of me.
i love southern-style accents... i went to visit family in Kentucky the past two summers and i always end up missing the way they talk. i live in california and everyones voices seem so plain over here compared to them. i could boast for valley girl accents, but that isn't really something to brag about. i have [and some of my friends] the surfer tongue, but it still doesnt compare to southern accents.
