Has anyone read Norwegian Wood, by Haruki Murakami? I just started it this afternoon, and it's great. I haven't read anything so beautifully written for a long time. Wow. Okay, back to reading!

I've not read Norwegian Wood yet but I've read "Hard Boiled Wonderland and The End of the World" and also "The Wind Up Bird Chronicles" by Haruki Murikami - he's a great writer. I love the Japanese take on things. It's hard getting used to the way his mind works but once you get over the fact he's not influenced by the Western World it's a wonderful place to escape to.

norwegian wood is a beautiful book...it is the only murakami novel i can think of that doesn't involve supernatural type events. wind-up bird is my favorite, followed by norwegian wood and then sputnik sweetheart. and i would have to disagree with lady muck in her belief that murakami isn't influenced by the western world...i can't think of an eastern writer who is MORE influenced by the western world.
