Interesting way to look at it (if that's how you look at it), and one which I hadn't considered... ...although... ...I'd rather see Jerry Garcia on a post marked envelope than a lot of other stuff... ...and, perhaps you shouldn't send or receive anything via the USPS, or you shouldn't drive on roads which are funded by the government, get an education, etc. etc. if you follow that line of logic... ...and, yeah, I too own a coupla Garcia ties, but I don't wear ties, they constrict the flow of blood to the brain...

BTW I didn't mean to give sh*t about your response there, seamonster, just pointing out that almost every man-made entity in this society of ours can somehow be linked to the government if you wanna look at it that way, and I doubt Jerry would be anything but thrilled if he knew his face was on a postage stamp. Better yet, what if they could be "special" postage stamps, the kind you lick and trip for days...somebody's prolly aready got 'em somewhere, too bad it ain't me...
...come to find out the United States Postal Service is independent of the government, so this "fee" goes entirely into funding the service itself, not the government, and, furthermore, the USPS funds social programs to help people, so I'd say Garcia's face on a postage stamp would be a downright fittin' memorial to the man...
Yeah, I'd rather see Jerry on my envelopes and have a smile than see another damn flag, bush, reagan, or something.
