They're not really what I would call real... more like people marketed to appeal real to idiots who will buy anything by record industries.

Yup.. 50 cent is about as "real" and un-manufactured as Busted. Commercialised rubbish if you ask me. I'm normally open-minded about any music really, but there are so much better examples of rap out there. I feel sorry for true rap fans, when 50 cent is idolized by people.

I'm not a fan of any rap but it's really has become a different animal since it first began. people on the streets rapping about the streets intstead of millionaires thinking they're fuckin' god because they have half of america's youth brainwashed into thinking they have what others want

I used to hate rap as much as anybody on these forums, believe me, as was i extremely racist towards blacks. Then, i stopped to think about why so many people liked rap so much. It's not like they are all a bunch of idiots, just because they are so different than you. They love music as much as anybody, and simply express it differently. I call them real because they aren't afriad to say whats on their mind. Not to mention their beats are mindblowing, and they deserve credit for that. 50cent is beyond my favorite rapper, though i do really fansy Nelly, hence i AM from St.Louis, maybe thats part of it. I really am into Tupac, The Game, and Eminem. Nothing wrong with that :) :)

I don't like nor listen to rap. I just don't find it appealing to my ears and don't like music where half of the lyrics are made up words from the "streets."

You have to know there is also music that just disses itself. I am sorry there is a matter of opinion and then just downright bad music or lack of music.

not pointing at any specific though....

There are many different types of rap music so putting them all in the same group is pointless. There is a lot of rap music that doesn't talk about women, rims and whatever that doesn't get played on the radio. That's the best kind

50's alright, I'm not really that big on anyone shadys labels signed, but hes a very talented guy, anyone who would say otherwise is just ignorant.

Hip hop is one of the most diverse and artistic of music today, and thats why the sound is imitated so much in other genres of music now, with poetic verse and hypnotic beats, and anyone who doesn't appreciate it has probably heard very little, and could be a biggot.

I'm not saying everyone who doesn't like hip-hop is racist, but I think theres a very strong reaction aginst talented african americans getting rich, and I think Hilary Clinton should shut the fuck up.

It's fine if hip-hop isn't your thing, but I hear thirty year olds who've never heard anything talking about music like they're in grade school.

There is some really crappy rap out there though, Nelly has about as much of a penchant for rapping as Vanilla Ice.

you cant deny the lack of actual tangible and substantial talent in most rap, or rock, actually, mainstream music in general. and if someones talent is based on the number of times theyve been shot or mugged... well, thats just sad

He degrades women in his musicvideos while glorifying a criminal lifestyle.
