I used to make diaper bags for my friends and myself (and their friends and...sheesh! That got out of hand.) I put a couple of larger pockets on the inside, a couple of smaller ones that stayed snug with elastic. I made the things big because I tended to take my babies on excursions, not just trips to the mall.

    They were popular.

That insulation is a good idea. I nursed my babies, but when they got a little bigger that would have come in handy for water or juice. I used the smaller, elastic pockets to hold stuff like that upright.

I used the longer pockets inside for those thin, portable packs of baby butt wipes.

    Happy sewing. :)

i like to just use a backpack. i can put anything for any of my 4 kids if i need it. i also like a pocket for my personal stuff when were all together so i don't need to carry a purse also. and we use cloth so if were looking for a diaper bag i would look for something with 2 compartments or an outer pocket for the dirty dipes.

Yeah, MaryJayne, if I had to do it again (cross my fingers, geez I hope I'm done with diapers until some grandkids come along) I think I would just use a backpack, too.

something that i had always wanted was a bag that i could attach to my baby "back-pack" (i had a baby carrier that went on my back with the waist strap to keep it sturdy). we did a ton of walking and i would always have to carry a bag with me....would have been so much easier if i had one to attach to the carrier. :D
