Just letting all of my friends on here know that me and my family are ok. We rode out the storm only to flee to Texas after a few days of no electricity, low water, and nothing with power in any 3 hour direction. We are doing good, our house is fine, the cats are all ok, and my family is fine. Not sure if i have a job, but i have been wanting to get laid off for months anyway, so Mother did me a favor there. I work(ed) in the casino industry, even though I hate it, and now, every single casino on the coast is destroyed, so i may not have to do it anymore. Keep all the people in your thoughts though, lots of people lost their homes and families, and they have a long road ahead. Take care
yeah, especially just south of us. Whole cities are leveled. Our town isnt too bad structurally, but tons of trees down and no power for who knows how long.
so very glad to hear that you are well.....its such a tragedy and my heart goes out to that entire region..... thank you for the update
Hey Heron! Glad you and your family are OK! I watched a liitle of that stuff on the news...had about all I could take after 15 minutes. I have little tolerance for watching other people's misery. So sad. I'm sure everyone has already thought of this...but, if you have the funds, it would be a wonderful thing to give what you can to a releif fund, Red Cross, etc. I'm mailing my donation tomorrow. I don't have much of anything to give, but every little bit helps. There's lots of folks that are gonna need help down there. OK, I'm done shilling for the Red Cross, ha ha. Take care, Heron. Keep us posted!
I'm so glad y'all are OK. My lil sweety girl Crayon (Cloudie) down there checked in too. Shes at her dads in Biloxi. She got to her apt today in Gulfport. Its ok but a neighbor had a van go thru theirs and theres a boat in a yard nearby...she just got her first apt last month...Looks like she might pack it in with her bf and go back to his folks place in AZ. Is your friend Astrobreaux ok too? I know he's down that way.
yeah he is fine, he was actually west of it all, just got showers. Talked to him about midnight last night while we were on the road. All's well. zinnia is doing good too, for those who know her.
Good to feel your presence, glad to hear Crayon is safe, my heart-felt sorrow over the destruction. My mother and brother evacuated New Orleans in time, yet as her house is in New Orleans east, have no hope on when or if they may return to survey the damage. You and your loved ones are in my heart and thoughts. May peace be restored and life be enhanced with sharing and kindness.
What part of Mississippi do you live in heron? We decided to ride it out here in Florence and got a bit more then we expected but were extremely lucky. We have a few trees uprooted in the yard and one on the roof that has to be removed but thats nothing compared to everything south of us. Glad to see you and your family made it okay.
Heron: Blessing, . I feel I know a little of you and your family by reading here at the Forums, it is always wonderful; Thank You. Anything we can do ? Peace, David.
well i am glad that it worked out ok for you and your family....did the tree go through the roof... i bet alot of people, after this storm, will not ride a hurricane out anymore.
I am glad you and your family are fine, heron. What a horrible thing to happen. Take care of yourself. I am also glad to hear Crayon is fine.
We live about 25 miles inland. I work on the coast though. We rode it out no problem, house came out great, not even a shingle gone. But the town is in rough shape. We left out of convenience not desperation. Lots were not as fortunate. I havent talked to any of my coworkers, all lived in the hardest hit area. Its weird not even knowing if they are alive or not. I dont feel bad for the hurricane, it is a natural process, we just build in its way, and of course we suffer from it. Our Mother gives life, but she also gives death. That is the cycle.
