the disco thread got me remembering the roller skating rink, when i was in middle school.

did anyone else spend every friday night at the skating rink? it was pretty much the only unsupervised place to hang out, when you were 13. haha. good times.

roller blades were just becoming the standard around the time that i stopped going. i never learned how to roller blade, and i actually wasn't a very good roller skater. i mostly went to shoot the shit, and talk to boys.i fell all the time. my main problem was that instead of learning how to use the brakes, i just ran into stuff to stop. (like the wall, or my friend :) )

I grew up out in the sticks in Oregon. We didn't have a roller skating rink.

You know, when I saw that 'Roll On America' had passed, I wept a tear for the DJ - that man truly loved his job.

I hung out at my house reading. At that age I had no friends anyway, so even if there had been a place to hang out, I wouldn't have been there. I've always been a loner. The only place I would ever go was into the mountains, to the river, or to the ocean.

"couple skate" was pretty funny too. everyone had to scramble around and try to find someone that was willing to skate with them. then, once you couple skated with someone, you were expected to make out with them later. what a joke.

I used to go all the time in middle school. It was the best make-out spot and the bathrooms always smelled like cigs.

I remeber rock n bowl. That was fun too. There were always sleazy guys in their late twenties trying to pick u on teen girls. Some of them were pretty cute though.

Haha. I remember when I was 11 or something, I went on a double date with my best friend and this other guy Daniel, whom I liked more than my boyfriend! Haha. But anyways, we went, the boy (bobby) that I was with fell in the bathroom, got all wet and started yelling at me and crying. So I took my only water and poured it over my head.....

Then it was a slow song and I just left the table to play games and then he chased after me and dragged me out there.

Haha. And in first grade this other boy tried to impress me by trying to skate backwards. Awww. How cute! Haha.

Good memories. And I still go there! Haha, and I'm in highschool, but I love it.
