If you are into foreign films at all, this one is a must-see. The plot is, according to IMDB: A French boarding school run by priests seems to be a haven from World War II until a new student arrives. He becomes the roommate of top student in his class. Rivals at first, the roommates form a bond and share a secret. So to give too much away about this movie will ruin it, so I will just say this autobiographical account is very true-to-life and touching. Awesome foreign, highly reccommended.
I was going to go see that movie, until I found out it was dubbed. Why are American's so against subtitles. I think most of the greatest movies are definintely made in other countries. There was a great French film I saw once... I can't remember what it was called. But it had to do with this educational institution, a bunch of mysterious deaths, and... other things. It's been years since I've seen it obviously. I'll try to think of the title at some point.
It sounds to me that you are refering to Les rivieres pourpres, aka The Crimson Rivers which was made in 2000 by Mathieu Kassovitz, starring the enigmatic Jean Reno and the charismatic Vincent Cassel. A film with a mysterious plot and high tension. Very good for all those who enjoy a psychological thriller. There was a follow up to that, but I didn't bother seeing it. I didn't hear too many positive comments on that one so I gave it a miss. Still, the first one stands on its own merit. Tres bien.
ooh, high tension.. another great movie. i found it pretty scary. kinda wanted to close my eyes at parts. and an unexpected ending and what she said at the beginning about her dream of herself chasing herself finally made sense.
