big wig companies that have decided to pitch over some dough for the disaster. what i found suprising was places like arbys a burger joint were giving more then some large airline places WTF!! http://money.cnn.com/2005/08/31/news/fortune500/firms_hurricane/index.htm
Ford Motor Credit Company is offering customers affected by Hurricane Katrina the opportunity to defer up to two vehicle payments. woo hoo.....wow, look at them really giving it to them... but honestly, airlines cannot afford that right now...but arby's they can....airlines are near bankrupt and have much federal aid....arby's well there are alot of them around here and they seem to be the prefered fast food restaraunt
the airlines are also getting further killed by the rising gas prices, and in some cases are having trouble even getting enough gas
Some large airlines can't even acquire fuel right now... let alone afford it. Radical change is in the air...
right this gas thing is going to kill us, either we will get caught in a rat race even more damaging ourselfs to get caught in working endless ours to fill up our car, or we will figure out riding a bike, isnt so bad and its healthy for us.
Home Depot will donate $1.5 million to various relief organizations, including the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. The home improvement retailer will set up six temporary support centers to provide reconstruction materials. home depot rocks....i worked there for five years bikes arent doable for all of us though crystal....i work 20 plus miles from work....
i know i know but man we can not pay 3, 4 or even 5 bucks , i know i can't i'm poor ...i feel for overseas where they pay 7 dollars a gallon thats why they all ride a bike or work nearby.
European cities were designed way before the car and have good mass transit, totally different story than here unfortunately
Coca-Cola Company is making a $5 million donation and donating water and other beverages to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for its relief efforts. man go coca-cola.... now can you find a list of celebrity contributions......i wanna see those people give of the millions and millions that they have....for acting or playing a sport
That sounds like a 'win-win' situation for Home Depot. Hmmm... And just maybe this will have a long term affect on the drive-thru fastfood society America's become. (wishful thinking) What's next... the ride-up window? That would be interesting. I too work over 20 miles from home, however, a coworker of mine lives right next door and rides 3-4 days a week. He's a little overzealous if you ask me, but I'm seriously considering it. If it weren't for all the traffic, I'd already have given it a try.
oh hell no....i cant see popping my kid in a side cart and riding her to the daycare and then going the rest of the way....
I did say over zealous. I was only kiddin' about the practicallity of commuting on bicycle. Unfortunately the majority of the US cities and towns weren't developed with environmentally sound public trans systems in mind, but that's a topic for another thread. Any celeb contributions to the dire cause?
oh i heard ya....i was just imagining... i havent looked for a celebrity list yet...i figured it would manifest itself when ready hey, now that i think about it...thats your job
Imagining is a good thing. As for the celeb list... I was only trying to pick up the thread where it was left off a few posts ago. Personally, I could do without some famous rich person getting extra attention from the media for doing a little something good. It's gonna a take whole lotta $$$ (and time) to make much difference in the disaster zone. )-;
i know....i wish i could do more than send money...i have clothing set aside to donate as soon as they give it a go for that kind of donation...i wish i could get my hands in it and be some real help
