Relif and help

Aid is arrived in New Orleans, in the same time of Bush's arrive.
It took 5 days.
Thats simply disgusting.
From all around the words journalists arrived within days but not the aid.
Now Bush is there and first Aid is there as well.
It sucks, Bush and his fellow, left people dying.
He has to pay and resign for the best of your Country and for the rest of the whole world.

 

Hey people,

I sat infront of the telly this morning too shocked to move, almost choking on my breakfast. People in AMERICA, were actually shown on tv hungry, dehydrated, dying. The great U.S of A, the great "we are"....the country whose government and many of its citizens sincerely believe that they are the most privileged, free and caring people in the world..far surperior to most countries. The country that believes the world so desperately needs them as guardians and stable protectors...and when it comes down to it, they cannot even look after their own people. Either that, or they simply dont want to. All the people left in Orleans are poor, coloured or both...it doesnt seem like too outrageous a suggestion that perhaps Bush doesnt care about these people because he is a racist, and they are penniless.

I just couldnt believe it. There were shots of people dying, young diabetics without insulin, crying, suffering...and in the background, American troops...who were there, not to help, but to "keep order"...and "shoot to kill" the hungry mothers looting for their children...

Ive just heard that the people have started to receive help. Shame its 5 days too late.

I urge people to seriously consider the mentality and capability of a man who seems laid-back about letting his own "fellow american" people suffer and die, when, if hed have tried even a tiny bit, most could have been saved by now. I simply will not accept that this isnt the case. America is rich beyond our wildest dreams....billions are spent on sending young men to invade eastern countries...on junk food...on Bushs stupid damn holidays in Texas.

And this is a man who claims to be human. Claims to be super-human...to be able to save the world from terror and save other countries from persecution.

I seriously fear for the safety of the world.

5 days just to start bringing in the aid, it will be longer before all the aid get's there. That's what I thought was fucked up too, journalists from every station everywhere across the world were able to get down there within hours, god forbid the government is able to act that fast.

We knew this would be a bad hurricane season. We knew that many gulf cities were sorely unprotected and would be devastated if a hurricane hit. We knew the hurricane was coming. Where was the planning? Where was the leadership? Why did we wait until the disaster hit?

Surely they realized not everyone on the gulf owned cars and had family they could travel to. But the people who cannot afford cars are the last people on the minds of this country's leadership.

What this all comes down to is that the people who mattered didn't care. Now they care, of course, it would look terrible if they didn't, but they didn't care when they should have. The people who could have had an impact on the outcome of this didn't care. Our leadership does not act in our best interest, and we are paying the price. Some of us much more than others.

 

Maybe we should have journalists in charge of FEMA?
Perhaps we could have the news agencies bid (in terms of relief supplies) for first in rights?

 

I wonder if all those journalists that rushed out there brought any aid...

 

no aid at all, they showed us the world where you live, if you are poor or penniless, you can die in a corner.

 

It's amazing how people will hear what they want to hear or what their pre-conceived notions allow them to hear.

The troops who are armed and will "shoot to kill" won't aim or shoot mothers fending for their babies. No. They will aim and shoot the armed gangs and thugs who are shooting people, shooting at rescuers and evacuation helicopters, and raping women.

 

Did you call "looting", try to get water or food after 5 days?
Your country (Bush, ops sorry) made a fool of himself, in this occasion.

 

I was going on what i saw on the news item, as i said...and what i saw was mothers stealing food for their diabetic children...then we were told that armed forces have been instructed to "shoot to kill" ALL looters....the only looters i saw were hungry people.

so did the people of LA. but alot decided too stay,thought they could ride it out. alot of the ones who stayed had no where to go,ignoring a mandatory evacuation isnt to smart, most of the looters stayed behind just for that reason,too loot . people stealing water an food wont be the targets , it's the guy's an gals with the tv's an shoes who will be targeted, an rightfully so,1 cadillac dealer had all the cars stolen,you think they were used to evacuate?

 

The poverty rate in New Orleans is quite high. Many don't own automobiles, and can't afford to put their families up in hotel rooms, and even if the did they didn't have transportation out. These people had no where to go, and were given no where to go except shelters in the very same city the hurricane was attacking.

 

You can walk out of LA if you have to, to get out of NO you must have a car or a boat. If you try to walk out of OR you will literaly be up to your as in gaters and/or snakes....

 

I have looked at this "looting" issue very closely from available news sources and I found that a lot of these folks were trying to survive and that a lot of the folks with vehicles were loading up supplies in order to help others, some of whom were dying. I would walk into and take from an open market in order to save the life of my bother or sister in an emergency situation, and if I owned a market in this situation I would let em go for it in order to help (as I have seen a number of business owners do in this situation).

 

I didn't say a thing about looting - I was talking about the armed gangs and thugs shooting people and raping women and girls. I really don't have a problem with them going down. If some one is looting, I say let them; there's more important things to get done first - like rehydrate a lot of very thirsty people and get them the hell out of that pit. Then one can worry about the distinction between walking out of Wal-Mart with cans of food versus a wide-screen TV or worse, ammunition.

 

hmmmmm, perhaps some less-than-good journalism.. The story I read said the the ones with the guns would "capture" the "affection" of the Guard, if ye know what I mean.

 

Bleh, afraid i dont know what you mean. But it was the BBC, so in fairness, bad journalism is a possibility. However, what i saw was real. And it scared me.

Bullshit, you don't even live here, and you don't, as usual for European critics, have your facts straight. I admit, the "releif" agencies did a terrible job, I agree, aid too TOO LONG to arrive, but I can ASSURE YOU, the National Guard did not get there BEFORE THE AID DID! It took FOUR DAYS for the National Guard to arrive.

Those same mothers who had to take water and food for their children were BEGGING for the Guard to come and save them from the asshole LOOTERS who were first stealing guns and then killing and raping the innocents. THere are some bad bad gangsters in New Orleans, and they went hog wild when there was no constant police presence to keep them from harming others. There IS a segment of our population who have NO desire nor ability to self govern. And it was THESE people who made the already miserable even more miserable.

The reason the National Guard was called? Well, these gangsters were shooting at HOSPITAL HELICOPTERS as the copters were trying to remove the dying from a flooded hospital. WOmyn were being raped in the streets and in the Convention Center, because there were no BABYSITTERS for the asshole gangsters who were more interested in stealing guns and fucking TV sets and 10 pairs of Adidas athletic shoes and stereos than FOOD. (I'd like to know where these BRAINLESS losers thought they were going to put their new TV sets, the houses are GONE!)

There is no "Shoot to kill" mandate. Not for people taking food to survive, only for those shooting at HOSPITAL HELCOPTERS and RESCUE TRUCKS. Did you get that outta the Daily Mirror or some shit paper? NO ONE has been shot by the Guard.

It was made well known that the first 3 days NO LOOTERS at all were stopped (the Guard was not there, and there were not enough New Orleans police to deal with them and no place to put them, as the jail had flooded.)

THEN, it was made clear, people taking food, water, toilet paper, baby forumla ect were to be LEFT ALONE by the Guard. NO YOUNG MOTHERS WILL BE SHOT taking food for their children.

It sucks, I agree. But, PLEASE, you aren't HERE. You aren't American, get your fucking facts straight before you start whining and blaming EVERY American for the acts of a few asshole loser gangsters and the failure of a system that very few of us support (Home Land Security.) There are 300 MILLION people living in America, we don't all think and act the same. This is something that our European critics seem to not be able to understand.

MY concern is: Where did all my tax dollars, supposedly used for "Home Land Security" and "Disaster Releif" after such an emergency go to? Where were the PLANS for securing a city after an attack? We've been paying taxes and losing our freedoms in the name of these so called "plans" but when there was a perfect "dry run" to test them out, things fell apart.

Yes, the president is an asshole, I have NO argument with that. But your "facts" about mothers being shot taking food for their children is just WRONG.
